It's hard to forgive sometimes. But anger is like garbage you wouldn't want to carry around. (Personally, we learned about this the hard way.) This week, we have a couple of cool object lessons to teach the kids the value of receiving forgiveness through reconciliation and giving forgiveness. Most importantly, we talked about where to find the strength and grace to forgive even when we're still upset. More information here: www.everydaycanbeasunday.com. Warning, this is a very "giggly" podcast episode. (23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Liturgical Cycle A, September 6, 2020)
The activity for this week involved some jumping and walking like a chicken in our Following the Leader game! (Some cookies for a reward later also occurred.) =) We also introduced the important Bible quote from Ephesians 6:1-3, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother' - which is the first commandment with a promise - 'so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on earth.'" Hmmm...we weren't too fond of this commandment when we were kids - but now as parents, we love it! =) More information here: www.everydaycanbeasunday.com. (22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Liturgical Cycle A, August 30, 2020).
And who do you say I am? It's a question that Jesus asked not just to His disciplies but to us as well. For us, Jesus is able to make a way when there seems to be no way. He is the God of the impossible. In today's activity, we taught the kids an object lesson to illustrate this point. Find out how to get your entire body pass through an ordinary piece of paper here: www.everydaycanbeasunday.com.
As Technology advances, our children are now used to having things quickly available. Thus when outcomes don't come out the way they would like, they might give up easily. This Sunday's Gospel teaches us the value of perseverance which is a virtue that is important not just for our faith but in life in general. In this episode, we've used some crumpled colored papers and threw them in the box. (Marshmallows are better but we didn't have enough. =)) We also added a cool interactive spinning wheel for alternative strategies kids can use instead of just quitting. Feel free to check it out at www.everydaycanbeasunday.com. God bless! =)
This Sunday, Jesus does some fancy footwork on the Sea of Galilee! We have an object lesson for you that hopefully would make a lasting impression on your kids! Check out the video at www.everydaycanbeasunday.com. If you liked this episode, please consider sharing with others. Thank you and God bless!
Aside from the events of Holy Week (the Resurrection in particular), the Miracle of feeding 5000 people is the only other miracle that is documented in all four Gospels! So it's kinda of a Big Deal! In these unprecedented times, how much do we trust Jesus that He will provide for all our needs? In whatever difficulty we have, how much do we trust Him that he has already provided a way out? Food for thought.
It's very interesting to hear what our kids thought heaven was like. It made us smile and it made us drop our jaws. For this week's activity, we happen to have some toy coins and kinetic sand so we did some "treasure digging" today. If you have more time, the activity on the household manual is great especially for older kids. God bless!
Today's Sunday reading has 3 Parables. We focused on the Parable of the yeast and did a fun activity using the Mentos and Diet Coke experiment. Then we read a good reflection of the 3 parables from the "In His Steps" journal. God bless.
For this Sunday's KFC Household activity, we used some teabags and water glasses. We also found this video on this parable that your kids might like, too. In the middle portion of this podcast, George and Gracie had a little ad lib. Gracie was eating some pretzels.
The Holy Trinity remains a mystery in our Faith. This week, on the KFC Household Manual, we went to a beach so the kids can get a visual as we relate the story of St. Augustine and the boy on the beach. The Gospel reminds us to be like little kids and approach God so that His grace will help us get to know him more.
