In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, Amy Beange interviews Ian McKerracher on his change of view from atheism to Christianity and the difference it made in his life.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, FBB associate speaker Ian McKerracher interviews Pastor Mark Adams. Pastor Mark leads a church called Fusion Church, in the middle of one of the more difficult parts of the City of Edmonton. Recently, he spoke of an insight into the masking issue that is rarely considered in our tumultuous times; a response that he gleaned from the scriptures for our edification.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, FBB speaker Colette Aikema speaks with Dr. Hendrik Van Der Breggen, a recently retired associate professor from Providence University and author of the book, 'Untangling Pro-Choice Arguments: Critical Thinking about Abortion'. We consider the arguments used to support abortion, discuss the flaws in pro-choice thinking and point out the need for believers to have conversation training on issues that are difficult to talk about.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, Associate speaker Amy Beange interviews fellow speaker Shafer Parker about his resignation from Faith beyond Belief in order to pursue other projects. Shafer talks about two books he plans to write, one on how the church in the west has deconstructed the faith in the last 200 years, and another on the impact of end times theology on the life of the church. Both books will explore the impact of their subjects on the life and effectiveness of the church.
In this week’s Everyday Conversations podcast, Amy Beange and Shafer Parker discuss the question, “ Did the Virgin Birth actually happen?”. Over the last century a growing number of critics have risen to question the Biblical text and to declare the concept more related to pagan legends than actual biblical truth. Listen as FBB speaker Amy Beange demonstrates the major texts from Old Testament and New, that only make sense if it is accepted that Mary was a virgin when Jesus was born, and that her son truly is “Immanuel, God, with us” (Mat. 1:23).
In this week's Everyday Conversations podcast, Amy Beange speaks with Raymond Strom of Calgary Rock and Materials Services Inc., who shares from his decades of experience in the oil and gas industry studying rock formations. Raymond explains how science as it is currently practiced in his field, based on the assumption of long ages for the earth, rather than being the idealized objective search for truth that it is made out to be, is rather an example of dogmatic views that exclude debate and the presentation of alternate ideas, and serves to impede research and keep the public in the dark about evidence for a much younger earth.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, Amy talks with Reverend Dr. Barry Danylak about singleness and the Christian worldview. In today's world sexual expression is considered nearly an absolute right and any restriction on sexual freedom is viewed as repressive. Barry talks about the goodness of the Christian sexual ethic which recognizes the supremacy of God and the goodness of submitting to his authority in the area of sexuality. Following God's design of chastity for the unmarried gives the Christian a means of expressing devotion to our Creator rather than unbridled sexual expression as the true mark of humanity.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, FBB speaker Colette Aikema interviews Dr. Ted Fenske and also Pastor Rohan Crown on the restrictions that Covid has placed upon us and how Christians should choose to respond. The heated reaction to the podcast we did a few weeks ago shows how vital these discussions are. FBB takes no official stance on masks, and here they discuss Covid from another angle and the response of the church. They confirm the wisdom of following the guidelines set out by the authorities and trusting God through it all.
In this week's Everyday Conversations Podcast, Shafer Parker discusses the role of the Delta Hospice Society, serving the dying as a divine vocation for the last 10 years. Now the Health Minister of BC is determined to end their work and take ownership of their buildings, paid for by the community through free will offerings, simply because the society refuses to allow MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) to be practiced on their patients. Listen as society president Angelina Ireland describes their predicament and explains how you can stand with the society in a battle that has national significance.
