In this episode, the Everyday Monks are back at the podcast table after a busy season of ministry, clergy retreat, and the ordinations of The Rev. Dcn. Timothy Wilson and The Rev. Marq Toombs. Join the Monks as they discuss ordination, Holy Orders, Fr. Marq’s journey into the Reformed Episcopal Church, and more.
Everyday Monks is the parish podcast of St. Benedict’s Anglican Church of the Reformed Episcopal (REC) and the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), located in beautiful Rockwall, Texas.
In this episode, the Everyday Monks build on the last episode’s emphasis on evangelism and church planting in this cultural moment, particularly how moving from Belonging to Believing is a journey traveled in a state of liminality for both non-believers and believers alike. The Monks share their thoughts on Fr. Vinson’s liminal-shift illustration (below), which attempts to articulate the foundational movements that Evangelicals and Agnostics make on the liminal journey into Re-Formed Catholic Anglicanism.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the illustration and hope this episode provokes conversation with friends and fellow ‘Monks’.

In this episode, the Everyday Monks regather after Fr. Michael Vinson’s return from the REC100 Europe Church Planting Intensive held in York, England, and hosted by the Free Church of England. Stefan Paas, a renowned missiologist, delivered this year's keynote address, entitled "Church Planting and Late Modernity." Dr. Paas believes that classical Prayer Book Anglicanism is “well equipped to meet this cultural moment” in which Christian mission and church planting find themselves. Join the monks as they discuss how traditional prayer book Anglicanism, liturgy, sacraments, spirituality, and friendship “meet the moment.”

Hey everyone,
Fr. Michael Vinson here, writing at the end of my trip to England and Scotland. Last week, delegates from across Europe and North America gathered in York for the REC100 Europe Church Planting & Parish Revitalization Conference. Participants traveled from Croatia, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, coming together in a spirit of prayer, fellowship, and shared mission.
I thought I’d share a particularly insightful lecture by Prof. Stefan Paas, who examined the nature of modern Europe through the lenses of post-Christendom, post-Christianity, and post-modernity. His thought-provoking talk explored the challenges and opportunities these contexts present for evangelism today. I highly recommend his latest book in English, Pilgrims and Priests: Christian Mission in a Post-Christian Society. I hope you find Stefan’s talk at this year’s REC100 Europe Church Planting Intensive to be enriching.
The conference began with Morning Prayer, followed by delegates engaging in high-level discussions on evangelism, sustainability, ecology, and Christian leadership. These topics continued to influence the week, which included a variety of academic, spiritual, and practical activities.
