  • The Gator Man of South Louisiana

South Louisiana is a land of swaps and marshes and a native home to one of nature's most deadliest creatures: alligators. Meet Tim Domangue, owner of Greenwood Gator Farm, and who we like to call The Gator Man of South Louisiana. Tim's job isn't like most others, on a daily basis he faces the hundreds of hungry gators on his farm and opens up his doors for guest and tourist to see his art of raising gators.

They chat with Tim about the life of a gator farmer, how his local fame got him involved with History's Swap People, and how - if you're a man over fifty - gator fat can make you go boing!

In this very special episode of Everyday Superhumans, Caroline & Kyle dig into the archives of the show to give you the second interview they recorded (even before the show had a name!)

      • Running for Cade

Running for Cade is an annual 5K race that happens every May in Houma, LA. The race is more than just a reason to show off how fast your 5K time is compared to your friends, it's an enormous charity event dedicated to raising awareness and funding for research for Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic condition in which the body cannot tell when the stomach is full.

In this very special episode Kyle and Caroline chat with the event's organizer, and the mother of Cade, Maegan Richard. Together they discuss what Prader-Willi symdrome is, the day-to-day challenges of raising a child with Prader-Willi (and raising two other kids at the same time!), how the event has brought the community of Houma closer together, and the bright future of Prader-Willi research. We even get to chat with Cade, the boy himself, about his favorite superheros!

Alpha Bitch is a name worth having, especially if you're a part of the Cajun Rollergirls. In roller derby the Alpha is the leader of the pack, makes sure everybody has their head in the game, and the one to take her team to victory and beyond. She needs to be strong, focused, and full of passion. Caroline and Kyle sit down with Denise, aka Alpha Bitch, today to chat with her about the world of roller derby. Roller derby is more than just roller skating around a rink, it's a sport of teamwork, physical and mental tenacity, and quick thinking. Louisiana is home to more than Tabasco, The Saints, and Bourbon Street, it's also home to one of the unique musical styles in the world: Cajun music. Cajun music is as diverse and unique as the food, and it's in danger. Enter The Cajun Music Preservation Society. Kyle & Caroline sit down with Misty & Tysman of the award winning Cajun Music Preservation Society in this very special musical episode. They discuss the history and tradition of Cajun music jams, the differences between Cajun and Creole cuisine, and the hidden influence of the Cajun porch jams across the world!
