Everything But the Book

WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE!

Sarah and Lyss are here to slay the house down with their new season 4 opener.

Get ready to talk motherhood, husbands, queer representation in media, hockey, economic distribution of wealth, and of course... books!

Season 4 finds Sarah and Lyss discussing the hottest things in the book world - hockey romances, as well as revisiting the teen YA popular series from Cassandra Clare. Stay tuned, you don't want to miss what they have planned for this season of EBTB.

Choose your faction...or don't?

Welcome back to EBTB! Join Lyss as she re-reads the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, and Sarah reads it for the first time.

Expectations will be subverted, YA dystopian tropes will be discovered, and your fear of intimacy will be exposed to all your classmates. Wait, run that last one by me again?

Featuring listener-suggested bonus content; lesbian mac + cheese lawyer. No, I will not elaborate.

Well, hello there!

The gals are back in town, have you missed us? What do you mean, no? Jeez, there's no need to be rude about it.

We're talking new releases, old releases, things that grind our book gears, and expressing gratitude for this friendship built on a love for books.

Strap in, folks.

WELCOME TO OUR 2023 WRAPPED!!!

We cover our Top 5 books of the year, upcoming releases, and introduce a new segment: what's on hold at your library?

Thank you for being a part of our little book club this year, especially as we navigated our new long-distance setup. Shout at us on our instagram, Facebook, email, or website at everythingbutthebookpod! And don't forget to vote in our poll. Or else.

In a shocking series of events, we have reviewed two books from the same series back-to-back. That series is, of course, the Booktok phenomenon Fourth Wing and it's newly released sequel Iron Flame.

Hit play, if you dare.

Let us know what you think! You can reach out to us on our instagram [everythingbutthebookpod] or Facebook, email or website.

*CHOO CHOO* The hate-Dain train is pulling into the station and we are on it! Or...are we?

Today we are jumping right back into our chat on Rebecca Yarros' instant best-seller Fourth Wing. Violet has mommy issues, we can't find Xaden's personality, and book people need to engage in Beyblade battles.

Songs we sing in this episode;

1. Tubthumping by Chumbawumba

2. Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine

Iron Flame episode(s?) coming soon! Subscribe to our show and follow us on instagram (everythingbutthebookpod) to get notified when our episodes drop.

On this episode we talk sound settings, special editions, Sarah tries to deny being a Swiftie, Lyss auditions for Dune 3 while speculating on K-Dramas, and eventually we start on one of the most popular releases of the year.

New season, same socials! One of our favorite things about this show has been getting to connect with other readers. The easiest way to reach out to us is on our Instagram, our email, our website, Spotify Q&A, or on our Facebook!

Well the inevitable finally happened...Sarah has moved away from Lyss. AT LEAST WE HAVE THE INTERNET!

The gals are back to singing, criticizing, and gushing over what we've been reading. They'll talk about some BookTok drama (because of course it's messy on there), and we will find out what K-drama Lyss has been kicking her feet over!

Also...why IS Sarah cancelling her favorite streaming service?!?

We love hearing from our listeners! Hit us up at everythingbutthebookpod.com, [email protected], and EverythingButTheBookPod on our social media!

Guess who's back?! It's your favorite duo, Sarah and Lyss.

Today we are catching back up, making excuses for our absence, restarting Kindle Unlimited, and talking Shadow & Bone's CONTROVERSIAL second season on Netflix.

We have covered some very popular reads on this show, but never one with quite so many accolades.

Winner of the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe Award for New Talent (2021), The Ignyte Award for Best Young Adult Novel (2021), the NCETA Ragan-Rubin Award for Literary Achievement (2021), finalist for a dozen others, both an instant indie and NYT bestseller, our next book needs no introduction.

And that's just the beginning! The Legendborn Cycle currently has two published books (a third is planned, never fear) and we cover them both in today's episode. Has Tracy Deonn delivered the greatest YA Fantasy series of all time?

Let us know what you think of the show @everythingbutthebookpod on our socials and remember folks, the Line is Law!
