Five segments on my favorite TV shows of 2021 where I manage NOT to drop any spoilers all in package roughly the length of a sitcom minus commercial breaks. (No spoilers on telling you what my favorites were either). As always, enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5x4.
Another belated year-end 2021 episode featuring my favorite matches of 2021 (featuring Fulham, AFC Wimbledon, Villarreal, FSU Women's soccer, the Chicago Red Stars, the Chicago Fire, St. Pauli, Venezia, and the Chicago House) Himmarshee FC, "big stories" around soccer and other misc. soccer-related content I enjoyed in 2021. As always enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5x4.
Steve does another in the Best of 2021 series- this time featuring 4 minutes apiece on his favorite picture books, middle grade/YA Fiction books, Adult books that he read in 2021 (with honorable mentions). Even though that only ends up with everything being 4x4- but as always keep everything 5x4 and enjoy (or don't).
Steve finally gets back to his Best of 2021 series with the 2021 Beer Spectacular featuring the breweries he visited and his 4 favorite Chicagoland, South Florida, Other US and international beers that he drank in 2021. (At some point to follow Book Spectacular, Soccer Spectacular and TV Spectacular). As always enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5 x 4.
Steve tweaks the 5x4 format for the first in a series of "2021 spectacular episodes" with 5 segments of 4-ish minutes apiece on a given subject. This episode is White Sox-heavy (the focus of 2 of the segments), but also features a sprinkling of Olympic baseball, minor league baseball, the KBO, the NPB, the Hall of Fame and a couple big (and not so big) MLB stories. As always, enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5x4.
Steve shakes off the rust with the first new episode in 5 weeks. This episode features talk of Minnie Minoso and Dick Allen's Hall of Fame cases, Anchor and Holy Craft breweries in San Francisco, Roger Bennett's memoir Reborn in the USA, the Chicago Red Stars battles on and off the field and American Horror Story Double Feature. As always, keep everything 5 x 4 and enjoy (or don't).
All the usual awkward charm of 5 subjects in 4 minutes apiece, but this time wrapped into a sports-free episode. This one features distinct beers from Beat Culture, the graphic novel Illegal, an influential Misfits tribute album, why Tetris matters and why I watched 24 episodes of Sex Education in 2 weeks. As always, keep everything 5x4 and enjoy (or don't).
Another episode of the baseball and soccer-focused spin-off of Everything's 5x4 (before a sports-less version of Everything's 5x4) featuring 12 minutes of baseball and 12 minutes of soccer. In this episode: a stat-focused summary of the White Sox season (featuring an unpopular opinion), the AL Wildcard matchup I'd rather see and a breathless run through of all the soccer clubs I root for (AFC Wimbledon, Chicago Fire, Chicago House, Chicago Red Stars, Fulham, Himmarshee FC, St. Pauli, Venezia and Villarreal). As always, enjoy (or don't).
This week, Steve subs out music for beer and talks about the White Sox clinching the AL Central (plus ominous signs for the playoffs and White Sox connections in international leagues), previews of Blackout and Re-Born in the USA (which he's looking forward to getting on hold from the library), remembering emo days by re-visiting albums from Cursive and Grade, Venezia and Villarreal's first league wins and revisiting 2 episodes from season 2 of Futurama. As always, enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5x4.
This week on the podcast, Steve is buzzing after a trip back to the Chicagoland area; he discusses Derek Jeter, the 3 most important hitters to the White Sox, revisiting and trying new Chicago beers, the second novel in Nic Stone's Shuri series, Fulham's historic run (with a little bit on the fortunes of Chicago's pro soccer clubs) and finishes off discussing Riverdale's compelling Hiram Lodge origin story. As always, enjoy (or don't) and keep everything 5x4.
