  • We're Baaaack for Season 1.5: Myspace, Podcasting, Sharing our Lives

Keli and Nicole return from their break ready for fun.

The ladies discuss social media platforms and the recent trending topic of Myspace. They talk about the lifeline that social media was in early motherhood, and how things have changed.

They also chat about the stink that is pubescent boys, and what their families have been up to during the break.

They spend some time reflecting on season one, what the show has taught them and the things that have been unexpected.

This is a fun and lighthearted episode that reminds us all just what we love about these ladies.

  • Mental Health and Moms (and Dads!)

For so many of us, whether its the stress and strain of recent months, or just a part of our lives for as long as we can remember, depression and mental health struggles have gotten us to our breaking points.

Nicole and Keli discuss the dark places that depression can take us, focusing on what Keli is currently experiencing, and the steps she is taking to find help for her depression.

As moms and dads, we can spend a lot of energy protecting our families and children from the weight that depression ties around us. We find ways to cope that may give us a chance to be a "functioning depressed person." This type of depression may seem less serious or severe, but once we reach our "breaking point," the fallout is generally just as severe.

Whether you personally suffer from anxiety and/or depression, or love someone that does, we hope you will listen to this episode for ideas of how to support yourselves or your loved ones.

For immediate assistance with Severe Depression/Suicide, you can call or text the National Suicide Prevention Line at 800-273-8255 or by texting HOME to 741741.

  • Finding Our Footing

Nicole and Keli discuss the current racial divide and uprising.

Nicole and I had a candid conversation on the murder of George Floyd and resulting protests and call for anti-racism. We discuss finding deeper understanding, our desire to mother our children in a way that will create lasting change and what that looks like in our daily life.

This is the beginning of a conversation within our own hearts together. We have much to learn. From the time this was recorded, through editing, and even now as it is being published, we are still learning and growing in understanding and awareness.

We invite you to listen to our beginning as we find our footing in how to be "Mothers at the Gates."

Nicole of @the_rebeltribe (on instagram) shared this movement and it's words have resonated ever since. You know that Nicole and I are passionate about motherhood and supporting mothers. This movement speaks to our souls and calls us to action. Please visit The Rebel Tribe's instagram to learn more about her vision and her call to action.

You can also visit her website therebeltribe.com for some amazing tshirts and merch!

Another resource we discuss in the show is an instagram account called The Conscious Kid. Visit their page for incredible ideas of how to have these tough conversations with your children.

As always, thank you for being part of this community with us and supporting us.

    Love One Another.

  • Jailbreak! busting out of quarantine and brushing up on our coping strategies

Our first episode since the COVID quarantine restrictions have started to be *slowwwwwly* eased up in our area: how we feel about "opening up" in our communities, what we're doing and which rules we're breaking.

We also attempt to answer the question sent in by one of our listeners "How do you cope when mom/wife life gets overwhelming?" In listening back, we might have totally failed and may need to  try that one again. But we do talk about what we're still trying to do to stay sane right now. That's basically coping, right?

Bonus material: Jordan interrupts recording with a typical 14 year old attitude sesh and his punishment was for us to keep it in for everyone to hear. (He's a good sport and is happy to share.) ;)

  • Celebrate! Congrats to us and you for making an amazing community of awesomeness!

Keli and Nicole escape to Spokane to see each other FACE TO FACE for the first time in around fifteen years. There was much laughing and crying and laughing till they cried. This episode is a recap of the weekend, a giant thank you to everyone that is along for this journey and just an all-around fun time. This is a horrible recap of the show, but words just can't sum it up. so listen and enjoy!

  • Taking Back Control

Nicole and Keli spend some time lamenting the disaster that is almost always Mother's Day. It's a tragic comedy, and deserved a few minutes of ranting.

The ladies also discussed how each of them are feeling a need to take back some control in their families, but in very different ways. This is one of those episodes that the conversation just evolves into a heartfelt exchange of encouragement and lovingly challenging one another.

  • Bonus Episode: Mother's Day with our girls

In this special Mother's Day Bonus Episode Nicole and I spend some time chatting with our girls and forcing them to say nice things to us. Since the girls haven't seen each other since they were tiny, they spend some time catching up and talking about their common interest in sports and making fun of their mothers' dance moves. Then Nicole and I ask them questions about how they feel about us doing the podcast, what they love most about us (Hey! We have to take the compliments however we can get them!) and we return a few compliments to them as well. This was our gift to ourselves this mother's day, but we wanted to share it with you.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas! We love you!

  • From the Window to the Wall: A Mother's Day tribute with Special Guest (Nicole's MOM) Peggy Hamilton

    (Keli here)

This episode is my favorite. After I finished editing I told Jim, I don't care if anyone else likes it at all, this one is a gift to me. It's my Mother's Day gift to myself.

Nicole and I spend over an hour talking to her mom, Peggy, about becoming a mom to seven kids! Her motherhood journey began with years of infertility, which she discusses ultimately helped her get through the tough days of motherhood. The gratitude that comes from having miracle babies is a love that carries you through the hard stuff. When I asked Peggy if she (and her husband Ray) would be comfortable with the personal details being aired, she said "If it helps  even one person who is struggling to have kids then we don't care!"

I want to try to give an overview of everything we discussed, but there's just so much GOOD STUFF, I can't. Every sentence is a gold nugget wrapped up in a package of hilarious laughter.

Peggy recounts hilarious stories of Nicole and I, and memories of family trips and fun times together. She sings her version of "From the Window to the Wall" and you don't want to miss it; I'm laughing as I type this just remembering all of the hilarious stuff!

This woman is up there with Betty White as a National Treasure in my book, and I can't wait for you to hear everything she has to offer.  She ends the episode with a special Mother's Day message to Nicole and I, and I've been replaying it and crying ever since we recorded. Make sure you listen to the very end of the show.

Happy Mother's Day, Mamas. WE ARE ROCKSTARS!

  • How Personality Types Affect Family Dynamics

There's a lot of talk about the Enneagram, and other different tools for evaluating our personality types, and how that plays a part in who we are in our world. Nicole and Keli chat with a guest, Nicole Allen (Nic for the purposes of keeping it straight on the show,) about her understanding of the Enneagram. They pick her brain about how the concept of personality type exploration can play a role in family dynamics and harmony. HELLO FAMILY HARMONY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE PAST TWO MONTHS?! Sorry...I got carried away.

Nic has a kind and passionate understanding of the Enneagram specifically, and has a fun approach of making it real to people like us who just want to get along with our kids and husbands. Keli's journey of self-discovery has begun to find healing and understanding of herself by using this tool, and Nicole is just tip-toeing into the idea.

Even if you have zero shits to give about Enneagram, personality types, or the general concept, this episode is still full of other subjects too.

Find Nicole and lots of info from her about the Enneagram (and just being an amazing human being)on instagram @nicolewith3
