When a Stranger Calls: The Unsolved Murder of Janett Christman
Happy Halloween, Pudding Pod Fam! Have you ever watched the thriller movie ‘When a Stranger Calls’? The premise is a young babysitter is in a home with sleeping children and a strange man keeps calling asking her, “Have you checked the children” ...before hanging up.
Frightened, the babysitter calls the police who instruct her to try to keep the stranger on the phone for longer so they can get a trace on the number. The babysitter then receives one final call from the stranger asking if she has checked the children. She tries to keep him on the line a bit longer this time. Immediately after the stranger hangs up the phone rings once more. It’s the police. They inform her that the call is coming from…INSIDE THE HOUSE.
After watching this movie, we started to wonder where the idea of “the call is coming from inside the house” came from. So, we did a little snooping around and found the horrifying inspiration behind these thrilling films…and although the story is a bit different since Hollywood tends to take liberties to entertain consumers, it is a terrifying story, nonetheless.
Today my friends, we will be speaking about the case that inspired the movie ‘When a Stranger Calls’. The 1950 unsolved murder of 13-year-old Janett Christman.
