  • The Lead Masks Case of Vintem Hill

In August 1966, two Brazilian electronics technicians were found dead on Vintém Hill near Niterói, Brazil. Beside their bodies lay strange instructions, a bottle of water, and a notebook containing cryptic notes. But the most disturbing discovery was that both men wore homemade lead masks covering their eyes.

There were no obvious signs of violence, and the exact cause of their deaths was never conclusively established. What had brought these two men to the hill, what were they expecting to witness, and what did the mysterious instructions mean?

Decades later, the Lead Masks Case remains one of Brazil’s most baffling unsolved mysteries—a chilling story of unexplained deaths, strange experiments, and questions that may never be answered.

Key sources are listed in each episode’s show notes where possible.

Accuracy. I make every effort to present information accurately and fairly. However, many cases, especially historical ones, involve conflicting accounts, incomplete records, translation issues, and ongoing debate. If sources disagree or the facts may be uncertain, I’ll try to say so. Theories, speculation, and interpretations are presented as such and should not be taken as established fact. Information may be updated or corrected as new evidence emerges. If you spot an error, please contact me at [email protected] and I will review it.

  • The Hinterkaifeck Massacre

In March 1922, six people were murdered on an isolated farm in rural Bavaria: the Gruber family, their two young grandchildren, and a newly arrived maid. Hinterkaifeck remains one of Germany’s most notorious unsolved crimes, with strange noises in the attic, footprints in the snow leading to the farm but none leaving, and a killer who may have stayed on the property for days afterward.

On Evil Uncovered, we examine the case from the beginning: the farm and its remote setting, the family and the maids who lived there, and the investigation that has puzzled historians and true crime fans for over a century. Join us as we separate documented fact from legend and ask who was behind one of the darkest mysteries in European history.

  • Hotel Del Salto

Perched precariously on the edge of a jagged cliff in Colombia, cloaked in a perpetual, thick mountain fog, sits one of the most chillingly beautiful structures on Earth. It also comes with the reputation of being haunted: This is the Hotel Del Salto.

Translating literally to the "Hotel of the Leap," this French-gothic masterpiece overlooks the breathtaking Tequendama Falls—a 157-meter drop that holds a dark, irresistible pull. It is often referred to as "The Suicide Hotel".

  • The Dyatlov Pass Incident

In February 1959, nine experienced hikers set out across the northern Ural Mountains in the Soviet Union. None of them came home. Searchers later found their tent slashed open from the inside, and the hikers were scattered across the snow, some barefoot and barely dressed in freezing temperatures. Several had severe injuries that no one could easily explain.

More than sixty years later, the Dyatlov Pass Incident is still one of history's most unsettling mysteries. In this episode we go through what the investigators found, the theories from avalanches to military cover-ups, and why the truth still feels out of reach.
