  • The Covenant the King Guards
In Matthew 5:31–32, Jesus continues exposing the shallow righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees by confronting the misuse of divorce. Deuteronomy 24 regulated divorce in a fallen society; it did not command or celebrate covenant-breaking. Christ takes us back to creation, where marriage is God's joining of one man and one woman in a one-flesh covenant ordinarily intended for life. Jesus rejects casual divorce while recognizing sexual immorality as a genuine exception, not a command to divorce. Scripture also addresses willful desertion in 1 Corinthians 7 and requires pastoral judgment in difficult cases. Civil paperwork cannot determine righteousness before God. Yet this passage is not without hope. Christ receives repentant covenant-breakers, protects those sinned against, and calls His people to faithful obedience. Christian marriage ultimately points beyond itself to Jesus Christ, the faithful Bridegroom who loves His church, gave Himself for her, and never abandons His covenant people.

  • Man Is Created
Pastor Jeremiah Gabbard | Genesis. 1:26-31 This sermon examines Genesis 1:26-31 to highlight the unique creation of humanity in God's image, distinguishing humans from animals through intellect and spiritual capacity. The preacher outlines three key aspects of this passage: man's distinct creation reflecting the triune Godhead, the divine commission to be fruitful and exercise stewardship over the earth, and God's provision of food for physical sustenance. Emphasizing that God provides all necessary resources before issuing commands, the message underscores human responsibility as stewards of creation. The text also touches on theological concepts such as sanctification and the eternal nature of the soul, contrasting biblical accounts with secular evolution theories. Ultimately, the sermon affirms God's perfect design and intentionality in establishing humanity's purpose and relationship with Him.

  • Journaling Through Genesis - 2:8-17
This study explores the theological significance of the name Yahweh Elohim in Genesis chapter two, highlighting the dual nature of God as both transcendent creator and intimately involved provider. It contrasts the powerful, distant gods of the ancient world with the personal God who lavishly provides for humanity in the Garden of Eden. The speaker emphasizes that God's initial gift to man was not scarcity but an environment of abundant beauty, food, and purposeful work. By examining the tree of life and the commandment given to Adam, the text illustrates that human worth is found in relationship with God rather than self-governance. Ultimately, the message encourages believers to recognize God's generous provision as a blessing and to look forward to the eternal fulfillment promised in Christ.
