How can we adapt a training mindset as a Christian man?
How does this connect with the instruction in the Scriptures?
- For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8, NIV
- All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV.
Timothy is a young and new leader that Paul is pouring into and challenging him to be “equipped” for every good work.
Equipping connects with training. Training is the mindset of exceptional men. If you desire to be exceptional, take on the training mindset. Tom and Chad discuss this and much more in this podcast episode.
Chad referenced Gary Thomas's book that explains some environments in which people grow.
1. Naturalist- finds God in nature
2. Ascetic- is drawn to discipline
3. Traditionalist- loves historical things
4. Activist- comes alive spiritually in the middle of a great cause
5. Caregiver- meets God in serving
6. Enthusiast- loves to grow through interaction with people
7. Contemplative- is drawn to solitary reflection and prayer
8. Intellectual- loves God by learning
