HOW IS THE PHILIPPINE ARCHITECTURE EDUCATION DOING?
Questions Raised to the nth Power:
What is the current state of our local architecture education?
Where is it going especially with the onslaught of the pandemic?
How can the national standards and requirements advance from its current structure and escape the traps of traditionalism, historicism, stylism, copying, and trendseeking?
How effective are the current development in education system in supplying the profession the right practitioners?
Can schools shorten the gap between theory and practice in architecture? How?
Can architecture schools be an active and organic participant in the social realm? How?
These are some of the questions that we are going to discuss tomorrow, December 20, 10am via Zoom. Together with some of the architecture program administrators of the country, Episode 2 of the Exedra Podcast will explore the roots of the issues and problems that linger in Philippine architecture education and hopefully shed light on how to view and confront the things that bother it.
