Think about how you describe yourself. For starters, I call myself a writer. I write, and that is all I can do. That is the essence of my being. Writing. However, let's say, one day walking I get into a fight with this monkey who wants to steal my glasses. I struggle, while other monkeys throw banana peels at me in support of their friend who wants to be triumphant in winning my glasses. I slip on a peel, bump my head, forget everything about language, words, etc but remember how I identified myself as a writer. Who am I then? I cannot write anymore! What is my self? Should I even continue to live? Think about it every time you say, you’re a foodie, a hiker, a rock climber, or the dude who took the hardest kick on his balls, the ball guy. Is that really you though? Or are you enforcing that label upon yourself to avoid being face-to-face with dread?
