My guest today is a Canadian born and raised former unhealthy, traditional pastry chef turned very healthy, plant-based chef. Lauren Lobley is a wiz at making traditionally unhealthy food remarkably healthy food and while experimenting in the kitchen and with her body, she realized âoh wait, I think Iâm a plant-based paleo person!â thatâs not a direct quote but itâs a true thing - Lauren went ACCIDENTALLY PALEO and wrote a whole book about it! Called The Accidental Paleo ! Itâs really cool. Also cool is that Lauren run and operate a yoga studio in Malibu, California, with her ultra-fit hubby Ted, where Lauren provides the freshly baked vegan gluten-free granola, and Ted teaches the best class on this side of Malibu. My guest today is one of a kind. Heâs also just, kind. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz is a speaker, blogger, father, husband, microbiome specialist and a full time practicing Gastroenterologist. Now admittedly, I havenât had the best experiences with gastroâs - I saw a couple many years ago in the heyday of my digestive struggles and they were not personable, not helpful and nowhere close to being on the âfood-affects-your-gut-healthâ train. So aside from Dr. Bâs hilarity, well-spoken-ness and palpable through the phone sincerity for educating and helping heal guts, the fact that heâs as passionate about plants as any person Iâve ever encountered -- which goes back to what I said earlier about him being one of a kind. Aside from being seen in scrubs and colonoscopies at and The Lowcountry Gastroenterology Practice in South Carolina, heâs been featured in Menâs Health, Huff Post, Womenâs Health, & Readerâs Digest and hear me when I say his instagram account: @theguthealthmd is a hoot and a half plus an extra half of having helpful information!
Â
Press play to hear:
Â
- Why doctors aren't being taught about food, nutrition, and diet.
- All about the microbiome, baby!!
- The very bad effects of losing gut diversity.
- How stress messes with your digestion. (My favorite topic.)

- The #1 one thing we can add to our diets to improve our gut health!
- Advice for raising kids to have healthy tummies.
- A garden analogy to explain probiotics and prebiotics.
- And SO. MUCH. must-hear. MORE. !!

My guest today believes that our relationship with food? Itâs a relationship. Like a relationship we have with other humans. And just like we can talk to a therapist to help us fix our relationships issues with other humans, we can talk to a food therapist to help us fix our relationships issues with food. Shira Lenchewski is that food therapist! Shiraâs an LA-based registered dietitian whose nutritional insights and recipes are faves among wellness-focused celebs and non-celeb awesome wellness-focused regular people too! What I love about Shira is that that sheâs as real as they come - and she eyerolls alongside me when she hears the term mindful eating as well as shares the same tagline âbeing healthy eating doesnât have to suck!â She recently came out with a book call The Food Therapist thatâs jam-packed with refreshingly practical advice for helping peeps resolve their âitâs complicatedâ relationship with food! Alright, letâs do some food therapy, baby!
Â
Youâll hear:
Â
- Why not eating mindfully doesn't mean you lack willpower or you're lazy.
- How we've been conditioned to eat ice cream when we're sad.
- What you can learn from how a three-year-old eats a cupcake!
- The role of the pre-frontal cortex (yay science!).
- Where sugar does AND doesn't need to be.
- Reconciling wanting to look good vs. wanting a donut!
- Why ethical accounting doesn't have a place in your relationship with food!
- The importance of owning your decisions and indulging CONSCIOUSLY!
- And A LOT more!

My guest today to sex what a nutritionist is to food. Just like a nutritionist can help you eat more naturally, Shan Boodran, a sexologist can help you hump more naturally! Shan is the Internetâs most sought-after sex educator - she has over 25 million YouTube views and sheâs shared sex and relationship advice on ABCâs âThe View,â MTV, The Steve Harvey Show, CNN, The New York Times, Forbes and Time Magazine. Her book, LAID (love it) was a Canadian Bestseller, she rocks a really cool LIVE Facebook show and she sells vibrator necklaces -- which yes, to answer your silent question, are for BOTH decoration AND functional use. I met Shan when I introduced her at The Good Fest and I saw women just get wet and wild listening to her talk about having a healthy sex life so I knew I had to bring her on my show. Full disclosure, Iâm admittedly a pretty prude lady so I definitely had a couple squeamish moments throughout our chat, but as Shan says: âfear ruins everythingâ so I just went with it. She also says she has orgasms in her sleep sometimes so if thatâs something youâre struggling with - not sleep orgasms, awake orgasms, thereâs a lot of helpful tips to come. PUN! Ok, press play.
Â
Get turned on to hear:
Â
- How Shan shifted from journalism to sexology.
- What a healthy sex life like looks like!
- How to navigate a relationship when your sex drive differs from your partners.
- Is scheduling sex good or bad?
- The diff between love languages and sex languages!
- Ways to talk to your partner about sex and make it not weird...
- The parallels between food and sex :-D
- Yep, we talk about having orgasms ! ! !
- The connection between our mindset and our sexual experience. (this was huge!)
- Some habits that might be blocking your firey sex life.
- And LOTS more.

Last month I shared the glorious news that I did, in fact, sign a book deal with Avery, an imprint of a publisher you miiiiightâve heard of called Penguin Random House. If you saw that instagram post or read my announcement newsletter or overheard me talking about it on the SubwayâŚor in my sleep, you mightâve drawn the conclusion that it was a boy meets girl, girl loves boy, boy and girl live happily ever after kind of story (except swap me for the boy and sub the book deal for the girl). But the truthful tale of my cookbook deal is anything but a straight, direct, easy line. It involved a lot of both woohoo AND boohoo, plus a surprising amount of woowoo âŚ. all of which I dive into in this story. So if you press play on this episode thinking youâll snag a copy and paste formula for getting your own cookbook deal, this probs isnât the perfect episode for you, but if youâre open to hearing how achieving great dreams is completely possible with more hustle, heartbreak and some spiritual shiz sprinkled in, this episode might just do it for ya.

My guest today is straight up - my girl crush. Whatevs. Iâve got no shame. And thereâs no reason she wonât be your girl crush, too, after hearing our chat and stalking her on the socials! Jess Sepel, known as JS Health online, is quickly becoming one of Australiaâs most sought-after wellness and lifestyle advocates - because sheâs so passionate about helping women achieve an actually balanced lifestyle and body by eating whole foods and by flicking off fad diets forever. Jess is not shy about sharing her personal story about how she went from a diet fanatic to a whole foods fan, (not the store, the actual whole...foods), and she uses her booming platform, her books, her clinical nutritionist education and her online course to help women build a truly healthy relationship with food. For real. Itâs a thing. And in this chat I got the pleasure of asking Jess live, from across the world, exactly how that thing called a healthy relationship with food can be a thing for everyone! We had a very similar conversation when I interviewed her live at The Good Fest a couple months ago so I tried to forget what we spoke about then and be a curious george when picking her brain again! This is most-def one of the most tangible episodes to date so just a little FYI - a thorough recap of our chat lives over at at partyinmyplants.com/84.

Press play to hear:
Â
- How Jess turned in to a walking, glowing billboard of health!
- Some gentle nutrition guidance.

- What to NEVER do when you come home from work!
- The connection between your mindset and your weight.

My guest today is an author, health coach, speaker, and fun food blogger behind Food Mood Girl. She also happens to dwell in one of my favorite non-NYC cities, Pittsburgh, where I go to cheer on the Steelers and eat great veggie burgers with my family who lives there! But this is about Lindsey Smith, not me. So yeah, Lindseyâs really passionate about creating plant-y recipes not just for taste-bud-ular-pleasure, but also for mental and emotional-pleasure as well. Her latest book is called Eat Your Feelings which is a title that I just ATE UP and so I wanted to bring her on to talk to us about how to, well, eat our feelings! Pretty straightforward. Although be forewarned: cravings? Not so straightforward as youâre about to learn. Â

My guest today has tried on more healthy habits than Alessandra Ambrosio has tried on Victoriaâs Secret Bras! Well, thatâs not a fact-checked fact so donât quote me on that, but Phoebe Lapine had certainly tried on her fair share of healthy habits. Phoebe is the awesome author of The Wellness Project, a memoir meets self-help book that chronicles her year-long health endeavor experimenting with health habits like managing stress, switching to green beauty products, etc. to help manage her autoimmune disease, Hashimotoâs and find âthe middle ground between health and hedonism.â We walked through her intimate experience with each of those 11 habits in our first podcast convo (episode 37) and now Phoebeâs back to dish the âwhere they are nowâ dirt about what lifeâs been like in the wake of The Wellness Project and how sheâs found perfect health and happiness and has no worries in the world. Yeah right. She actually tells us the total truth about how her health journey just keeps going on and what sheâs doing nowadays to keep herself feeling as good as poss, and how you slash me can follow her lead in feeling as good as poss. YAAAS!
Â
Get stoked to hear:
- The aftermath of The Wellness Project.
- Some of the symptoms of SIBO and what it really means.
- How stress really is the worst thing EVER.
- How to stop trying to be the cool girl and do what makes you feel good.
- Ways to isolate healthy habits and determining if they're a tool worth using.
- The importance of a vice detox and how to do it easily.
- And loads more!

My guest today is woman who takes pleasure in pop, lock and dropping spines. All in name of improving peopleâs overall well-being, preventing health issues and proving that she is NOT a Dr. Bobby Bobby. (Yes, thatâs a friends reference. And yes, the scene Iâm talking about is posted in the shownotes). Dr. Kasey Johnson is a family wellness chiropractor based in the Tampa Bay area. Sheâs so pumped about getting everyone hooked on crack...ing their spines, even at a young age, that she wrote a childrenâs book about going to a chiropractor! Itâs like instead of goodnight moon, itâs like goodbye ear aches. Kasey also eats a lot of plants! And we speak about whether you can tell the difference between a plant-y spine and a non-plant-y spine. (The answer to which might surprise you!) In one sec, youâll hear Kaseyâs passion for chiropractic care just reek through your speakers and youâll hear me ask hopefully and probably everything youâve actually ever wanted to ask anyone about a chiropractor. I left no stones unturned. No spines unadjusted. I straightened everything out.
Â
Youâll hear:
- What Friends got right (and wrong) about chiropractors!
- What exactly chiropractic care means and the benefits of it.
- A chiroâs stance on standing desks.
- How chiropractors are similar to doctors AND acupuncturists!
- How often you can get adjusted.
- Whether you can tell the difference between a plant-y spine and a non-plant-y spine.
- Why a car is the perfect analogy for your health.
- Plus, some pretty awesome chiropractic puns.
