We got out of bed to talk to artist and filmmaker Andrew Norman Wilson about his work and his viral essay in the Baffler about the impoverished jet-setting life of an artist without a trust fund. He’s now turned the essay into a talk/stand up show he performs in New York. What he talks about is relevant to all media precariat — not just visual artists but journalists, filmmakers, writers, adjunct lecturers. He’s got great comedic way of relating what that “art life” is like…if you don’t have generational wealth propping you up.

Evgenia compared Norm’s essay/stand up show to Chris Morris’s work. There’s Blue Jam, a cult radio show that Evgenia listens to as therapy when she feels down. And then there’s Jam, the TV version of the show. Chris Morris also wrote a suicide journalist column under a pseudonym for the Observer…
