We're back again talking about something that scares me about the future. I know, I know, that's everything, but this topic is pretty frightening to me. To me it seems like a lot of adults reach a point in their life when life and everything in it becomes mundane and routine. They reach a point when they settle and the responsibilities of growing up take over to a point where they can't be spontaneous. They no longer go on trips, try new things, meet new people, or do anything they really want to do. They just wake up, go to work, come home, talk about the same people and things, and go to bed. Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't the case, but that's what we're talking about this week. I don't ever want this to happen. Mundane life doesn't interest me. Maybe that'll change, but right now, not for me.

On this week's episode I chat with an old time friend of mine, Matt Colbert. We met years ago over a game of basketball and have been friends ever since. It's wild to think about just how far we've come since then and what we've learned. Matt studied Environmental Engineering at Gannon University and is currently pursuing a career in the same field. Matt was never someone who thought terribly much about the future so he was lucky to find a major that fit his skill set so he could find a career he's passionate about. We discuss some of those major moments in Matt's life that created the person he is today. Unfortunately, we all deal with loss, it's inevitable, so we talk about how he overcame it and was able to learn and grow from those experiences. We also talk about the environment and just how incredible nature is. There's just something about going out into the woods, or the middle of the ocean, or National Parks, and just taking it all in. It can really open your eyes and make you feel some type of way. Matt's biggest hobby is constant learning. He's a major bookworm and avid podcast listener. If you ask me, learning is one of the best hobbies a person can have. There's so much out there to discover!

These are basically the method we use to make ourselves feel better when we are dealing with anger, sadness, or stress. This week I sat down with my sister’s friend Mike Mastro. He heard about my podcast and couldn’t wait to be a part of it. We talk about Mike’s process through college from first thinking chemistry was a great option to then going into the engineering field. Now he’s working in the computer science world and figuring out how to stay productive while working from home. We also discuss some of Mike’s hobbies and dreams. He loves staying active by working out, running, and golfing, but he also enjoys taking time to relax and be with friends or even by himself. This week I chatted with my friend from Binghamton, Jacob Parker. Jacob and I met in our school’s theater club, HPC and have been friends ever since. Jacob has always had a passion for music, both playing and composing it, so it’s no surprise he’s going into music education. We discuss his process of figuring out what he wanted to do with his life because he didn’t always know. He was actually considering chemistry for awhile. This week I chatted with my old friend Nick Damiani from High School. We had the opportunity to catch up a little and see how far we’ve each come since then. Nick tells us all about his experience dealing with the pressures of choosing a college and a major while also processing the loss of his father. We talk about finding happiness in every situation and realizing that life has its ups and downs, but you always have to stay humble. Nick studied Biomedical engineering in college and plans on working his way towards building prosthetics while at the same time pursuing hobbies like pottery and brewing beer. I procrastinated and didn't schedule an interview in time for this week, so we're trying something a little different. This week I decide to talk a little bit about something I've been thinking a lot about recently. I feel like there's a growing issue in our society and people are no longer communicating with one another or sharing how they feel. It seems like we're all so afraid to be ourselves and share our emotions because we believe other people will judge us or get angry when we do. I wanted to share some of my thoughts on this topic and how I personally try to overcome this by being vulnerable and open while also trying my best to create environments that allow my friends and family to feel comfortable with talking to me.
