Most of the time the things we say that we’re frustrated about and are picking fights about isn’t even the real issue. It’s usually something else that we didn’t deal with, that then piles up and then we snap over the most ridiculous things which had nothing to do with what we were actually frustrated or upset about in the first place. When you find yourself in these moments, where one frustration leads to another, and to another: When you have big emotions that feel like they’re taking over and you’re spinning out of control - remind yourself that you have a choice.

Let’s talk about overwhelm. I’m choosing this is because it’s something I have been struggling with this week. And what I have found is that if I’m struggling with something in my personal life chances are there’s a lot of other people who are struggling with this too. I keep it real, I keep it authentic and I’m never going to come on here and pretend like I have my life all together because I don’t. BUT I have learned how to manage stress, overwhelm, and big emotions so they don’t take over my life. The first thing and I think this can be the hardest sometimes is realizing that overwhelm is a choice... If I'm stepping on your toes by saying that then this is exactly what you need to hear.

I think we’ve all heard the Tim McGraw song, Live like you dying. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. Every single day is a gift, but do we actually live that way? When we take tomorrow for granted we tend to fight against the current blessings that we have, but when we live like today is a gift, we will fight FOR our current blessings.
So this week I want you to evaluate some things in your life, and if there’s something that you feel like you would regret doing or regret not doing, make a note of that and start to change.

You might not be aware of how incredibly damaging your current thought life is.
I want you to think about something…. Your self talk is a reflection of who you want to become in the future! So what are you saying about yourself?? What is the conversation like when no one is around? What thoughts are flooding your head?? Let’s redirect the negative thoughts. Let’s flip the script and let’s have our self talk reflect a future of joy, peace, and abundance.

You can’t go back and change the past BUT You can change what happens next. We are called to take every thought captive and combat the lies we were telling ourselves with truth and then actually believe the truth! Let’s see what that looks like in a real life situation and combat real life toxic thoughts with whats true. Mistakes will happen, but it's up to us to learn from them. Remember friend, the goal is growth not perfection!

Maybe you’re like me and you’re obsessed with personal growth , you love it, you listen to all the podcasts, you’re reading all the books but here’s the thing, when the rubber meets the road, when the situations aren’t going the way you wanted to, how you handle those difficult situations is everything. That shows the true inner work that you're doing. But I would venture to guess that most of the time there is some kind of hiccup that comes along the way. And we have a choice to pivot. You can have all of these “aha” moments when you’re reading a book and you can be like “oh that is so good” or you listen to a podcast and you’re like “oh wow that was amazing” but if you’re not doing the inner work and you aren’t applying those things that you are learning then you aren’t truly doing the personal growth you’re just consuming, and being what we like to a personal growth junkie, but nothing is changing.
