The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology at the University of Sharjah joins in to aid the UAE's space endeavors with the creation of the 4.5 metres S-Band Ground Station, that will allow the Academy to higher rate of data transfer and to download high-resolution images from the Sharjah-Sat CubeSat Series.

With the recent return of Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, the UAE is taking its space missions very seriously and has ramped up the excitement for this new space race.

This is why the Director-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre Salem Humaid AlMarri, stated that with Al Neyadi's return to Earth, the centre will study strategic plans to secure a seat on one of the space flights every 3 or 5 years.

The number of mosques in Sharjah, long celebrated as the City of Minarets, has now reached 3,092 spread across the length and breadth of the emirate. These include ancient heritage landmarks as well as modern mosques that have come to be recognised for their stunning engineering genius and architectural styles, ranging from Andalusian, Fatimid, and Mamluk to Ottoman, Moroccan and traditional Arabic ones.

The latest figures from Sharjah’s Department of Statistics and Community Development show that the city of Sharjah, including Al Hamriyah and Abu Musa Island, now is home to 2,380 mosques while the Central and Eastern regions of the Emirate respectively boast 448 and 264 mosques.

Guided by the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah has ensured that every single part of the Emirate, feted as the Cultural Capital of the Arab and Islamic world, has a mosque to cater to the needs of the faithful. These mosques do not just serve as places of worship five times a day, all year around, but also work as centres of Islamic learning, knowledge and guidance for everyone.

Sharjah’s mosques are distinguished for their grand architectural splendour, boasting distinct style of cavernous domes, pulpits, awe-inspiring arches and columns, complete with their charming calligraphic designs and complex and ornate inscriptions that celebrate the majesty and beauty of Islamic civilization and teachings.

The Sharjah Waste to Energy Plant, the first of its kind in the Middle East, has recorded a number of achievements since its inception in 2022.

Sharjah Waste to Energy plant’s rate of waste treatment in the emirate reached 90% as the conversion of non-recyclable waste into clean electric energy connects 2,000 homes in Sharjah in the current period, while 28,000 homes will be linked soon .

The Sharjah Waste to Energy Plant converts non-recyclable waste into energy, through the incineration process to turn waste into heat, which is used to operate an electric turbine, where the net generated electric power is about 27 megawatts, and it is distributed through the main electricity network in Sharjah. The plant appropriately treats the gas emitting from the process, as it releases to the air without any effect.

With the aim of promoting and strengthening sustainable cooperation, the University of Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding with the global, research, pharmaceutical company "AbbVie”, signed on behalf of the University of Sharjah by its Chancellor, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, and on behalf of the company, His Excellency Hassan Sabbah, General Manager of AbbVie in the Gulf and Levent region.

The agreement aims to enhance students' cognitive skills in various aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, including talent management, promoting research, development and knowledge exchange in the field of biopharmaceuticals, creating a pool of future talent for pharmaceutical companies through joint initiatives, as well as providing an opportunity for students to collaborate with the public and private sectors in the UAE to enhance their knowledge and skills in the pharmaceutical industry, including co-deployment and resource sharing, teaching, joint supervision, and curriculum development.

Al Qasimia University continues its efforts to offer specific programmes to qualify students with the rules of public safety and preserve their health, especially in danger. In this regard, Al Qasimia Universityt organised a training workshop on "Community Readiness and First Aid".

The workshop, which was held at the university’s headquarters within the activities of the summer camp “Our Summer is Happiness”, came within the framework of the objectives of the Dean’s Office for Student Affairs at Al Qasimia University, to qualify students and to raise their efficiency, for rapid response, first aid readiness, and direct intervention to prevent injury.

The workshop was organised over two separate periods, the first for male students and the other for female students. The workshop had an intensified theoretical and practical contents to provide students with information, skills, modern methods of public safety, basic rules for first aid, raising students’ competence, and providing them with experiences and life skills that help them to act in emergency situations.

The workshop discussed a number of important topics, tackling community preparedness in times of crisis, first aid, the importance of dealing with different types of accidents, and observing public safety rules when helping the injured.

The workshop also touched on taking the necessary measures for each injury case before the arrival of the specialised paramedics.

The Museum of the Future is set to host the upcoming talk as part of the ‘Future Experts’ monthly series. The next session will take place on Thursday, where expert Sougwen Chung will cover topics in artificial intelligence and technology, robotics, virtual reality and biofeedback.

Under the theme of ‘Seeing Double: Bridging Dualities with Relational Intelligence’, the thought-provoking session will take place at the museum’s auditorium.

Set to provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of technology, this session allows attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of relational intelligence and its impact on various industries and the future of AI.

Sougwen Chung is a Chinese Canadian Artist and Researcher whose work is based on performance, drawing, still images, sculptures, and installations, in addition to the technological progression of the human hand.

Known as a pioneer in art and technology, Chung explored the mark-made-by-hand and the mark-made-by-machine, to comprehend the dynamics of people and systems.

Chung said, “Embracing contradictions in art and research can pave the way to a third path, inspired by tradition and the development of new hybridities.”

The participating Arab delegations concluded the second session of the third edition of the Arab Children's Parliament with expressions of gratitude towards His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his generous support of Arab childhood. They lauded his tireless efforts in caring for Arab children and providing constant guidance to ensure their well-being.

Additionally, the delegations commended the well-organised and hospitable environment during their visit. They also expressed appreciation for the accompanying programmes, which offered valuable educational, touristic, and developmental opportunities. The experiences in Sharjah, including visits to educational institutions like "Sharjah Youth" under the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, the Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Complex, as well as workshops, exhibitions, and recreational activities, left a positive impact on the children.

The annual report on the movement of real estate transactions in the regions of Sharjah, which was recently issued by Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department, revealed a great development in this sector outside the city of Sharjah. This thriving movement was evident as the volume of cash transactions in the Central and Eastern regions amounted to AED 549.4 million, and it was carried out through the department’s four branches in the Central region, and the cities of Khorfakkan Dibba Al-Hisn, and Kalba. Moreover, the total real estate transactions in the department’s branches reached 14,195 transactions, or 34.8% of the total transactions executed in the emirate during the first half of this year. While the total area traded in sales transactions amounted to 15.1 million square feet during the same period.
