The initiates prepare for the journey east, across the southern edge of the Hinterlands, to the remote kingdom of the Stablands. When the Hurtz Inter-Hinterland Wagoneers arrive, they do so with friendly faces in the mix: Urthur Broadbarrow, having left Immerfell to join the initiates in the field, and the harpy-beset duo Roscoe "Lightning" Thislewhip and Phyllisus "Danger" Forkwalker! No mere one-shot guest characters, Roscoe and Phyll joined up with the Hurtz Mercs as they needed something to do after the events in Vermeillon and Phyll saved Roscoe from impending harpy death. Together again, the gang travels eastward with their armed and armored escort. Stabman guides the caravan to cut through boar trails near his homeland after a few days of travel, in order to save time reaching the city, but Fordson and drow priestesses aren't the only evils that would see our heroes fail to solve the mysteries unfolding before them. . .

Snarl and Snort share a tense moment, but they don't have much time for discussion as a scream for help pierces the patter of rain and rumble of thunder. Intruders with murderous intent have invaded the Chalet, putting everyone in danger, and the gang leaps into action to fend off the threat! Taking out enemies from the top floor to the cellar, they meet a familiar foe attempting to free (or possibly kill?) Fordson. Choices are made, and choices have consequences.

The initiates arrive at the Chalet Brantifax. With Fordson unconscious, they agree to secure their prisoner first thing - Vinique letting them stash their duergar quarry next to a well in the cellar with a spooky history. They head upstairs to greet and dine with their wereraven hosts (for a meal that definitely is not worms and seeds). Stabman is called home. Xyfiel questions Fordson. Snarl is presented with a choice.

After a mishap with explosives, Lea and Vondis are sent spiraling into the river below. The group splits their efforts between saving the innocent kids from Fordson's violence and inflicting violence upon Fordson in return. Stabman hounds his quarry, while Snarl and Xyfiel leap into action to recover the children. After Stabman clashes with the excessively slippery Fordson, and Snarl and Xyfiel are recovering from the strenuous efforts of their emergency response, Snarl attempts a Hail Mary to stop Fordson in his tracks. . .

The group reconvenes after their harrowing experience with several vicious cat demons and investigates the cries of the very real elven children calling for help. The wereraven also helps the kids to their feet, and reveals themselves to be Snarl's child, Snort von Vicious! They call themselves Vinique, now that they are a wereraven, and leave for Chalet Brantifax after having a heavy conversation with Snarl. The gang takes the elven kids with them, investigates the ranch at the end of town, has a meeting with another member of the wereraven group, and hikes through the backcountry. All this, before having a fateful encounter at a bridge with a familiar acquaintance. . .

The seemingly empty hamlet of Wytchway lies before our Chronologist Initiaties and Co, mist low to the ground and ravens high in the sky. The abandoned farms are home to 30-50 feral hogs, of which one seems to have a mysterious connection to Stabman. Snarl wants to make the most of her magic to find Fordson while Xyfiel and Stabman root around the town hall for clues. With Madeline in tow, Snarl explores to the edge of town, where she gets a ping on her Locate Object spell, but also finds something much more sinister and not at all like a small child. . .

Roscoe is whisked away as quickly as he arrived, and Phyllisus chases after him, leaving the Initiates to regroup with their scribes and triplets. Scavenging what little they can from Vermeillon, they make their way back to Maerin with little effort. Back at the Bored Weasel Inn, Lukas shares a hefty sum of money with the party, for the deeds completed on his behalf. Xyfiel celebrates, gets a little drunk, and has a surprise meeting with The Boss. After safely making their way back to Immerfell and checking in with Broadbarrow, he shares that Fordson recovered, but apparently has gone off the deep end once again. . .

Still searching for Danger, the spookening turns up to 11 as an invisible menace hounds them. After dealing with the threat with the help of a surprise ally, and informing the Chronologist scribes to stay safe in the mayor's mansion, the group heads into the platinum mine. However, they are not prepared for what they find. . .

The journey would take them through the outpost town Vermeillon, and end in an abandoned mining town called Maerin, known for its platinum mine spider factory. They decide who and what to bring with them and step out into the night. . .
