In episode two we’re talking about art education. Julie studied Visual Arts at University and Phoebe is largely self taught from online courses. We discussed how we both felt we’d failed in some ways with our choices, and what we learnt. Julie talks about what she regrets regarding her decision to go to art school and what she saw as being the biggest things she got out of it, and Phoebe discusses her feelings around not going to art school and how she found the online courses that she did instead.

Julie chats about when she felt called to bring in a completely different subject matter, and how that affected her style and made her worry galleries would reject her. And Phoebe talks about her journey of trying many different types and styles of art from resin to still life and everything in between… and how led her to feel like a failure for not being able to stick at one. Then we share how we have ‘not failed’ - the things we have learnt and where we are at now.
