Isaiah, one of the great prophets of the Bible, spoke these words to the people of Israel during a time of deep darkness. Their land was under threat, their hearts were burdened, and they were longing for hope.
In the midst of their fears, God gave Isaiah a vision of a future filled with light and joy. This prophecy spoke of a child to come—a ruler unlike any other, whose reign would bring peace, justice, and righteousness forever.
As we read Isaiah 9:2-7 together, listen for the themes of light breaking into darkness and the promise of a King who embodies God's presence with us. These words, spoken over 700 years before the birth of Christ, point us to Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s promise to dwell with His people.
