This week, we are going to reflect upon the difference between knowing about God and having a relationship with Him! In Matthew 16, when Jesus and His disciples traveled to Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" Simon Peter's response to Jesus, and Jesus's response to Peter, is an important shift in how we, as Christ followers, understand the gospel! God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him, and it's awesome.

This week, we are taking time to reflect on the early story of Peter and John before the Sanhedrin. They are in trouble because of a miracle God performed through them. In this little story, we learn what these disciples were known for. They were known as people "who had been with Jesus." (Ac. 4:13) What a remarkable statement about the early Christians. And what a statement should be made of us! We will be taking some time to be prayed for as we begin a new school year.

This week, we are going to talk about the transforming power of God's kindness. In a look at a number of core biblical stories and texts, we are going to look at how God, time and again through Scripture, reveals to us that it is God's nature to be kind to us. And, by virtue of that, to transform us through that kindness.

In our final week in the Called series, we are going to look at the beautiful passage in John's gospel about Peter's restoration to Jesus. Having denied Jesus, what is Peter to do? In a breakfast encounter with Jesus, Peter learns what Jesus does with our failures. And how he loves to use them (and us) to do his work in the world through us.

In our Called series, we are exploring what it means to be a people who are called with Christ. This week, call back to the ancient prophet Jeremiah—sometimes called the "weeping prophet." In his calling, God not only speaks to him about his identity but also about his sacred task in the world. This week, we will explore what it means to be a spokesperson on God's behalf, as humble prophets.

Isaiah 6:1-8 with A.J. Swoboda — As part of our sermon series 'Called,' we are reading Isaiah 6, where we learn that Isaiah has a vision, an experience that would transform him at his very core. This vision of the Holy One of Israel would not only cause him to fall on his face; it would also send him into his calling of speaking truth to the people of God.
