Jesus raises the standard. When He mentions how He came to fulfill the law not to do away with it, He also raised the standard of how the righteous ones are to live. He gave us His righteousness which made us completely righteous as He is righteous. Through one man’s sin all became sinners — Adam. Then through one Man’s obedience, we were all made righteous — Jesus! Now, in this elevated state of righteousness we’ve got to act different. Jesus finds His stride in the sermon on the mount taking the listeners on a journey of discovering this new elevated way of living with many examples from what the law said and now what He’s saying.
There is a variety of gifts mentioned in the Scriptures. Breaking down the different kinds of gifts and what their purposes are is crucial to have solid understanding. The gifts of Christ, gifts of service & gifts of the Spirit are all different. Still, they all work together for a common goal of glorifying Jesus and ministering to His people. Take a look into the Scriptures to begin to unravel any confusion on the topic as the Holy Spirit also brings revelation.
Throughout my personal journey, I have learned and then relived through these same cycles. To know WHOSE I am, leads me to desiring more of God’s presence and encounters with the Holy Spirit, which ultimately leads me to a lifestyle of surrender, sacrifice, and obedience. All leading up to true worship to Our Heavenly Father— that is where true living happens. We were designed to live a life of worship, and I have to circle back to that same truth all the time. Perhaps you are already living in a similar rhythm. I pray as you listen, that your heart will be open to a new perspective. Allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart and reveal to you what you need to do to be in His presence in every season.
Sometimes we limit or undervalue what God is doing for us, in us, and through us because He’s doing something different or “better” for others. The truth is, comparison is a gratitude killer. The more you follow Jesus, the more you'll see Him reach people in ways that might feel unconventional to you. After all, His grace has been made available to even those we have a hard time forgiving, let alone celebrating. Our job is to bring people to Christ, and never stand in the way of the grace He wants to show to others!
We’re all on a journey and every step matters. Sometimes the journey God has us on looks like chaos, but it’s actually divine guidance. He knows what He’s doing. When He gets you somewhere, it’s with great intentionality and purpose. Pastor Josiah pulls a key example from the life of Philip and his ultimate mission to Caesarea with this in mind. Hear His voice — Let Him lead.

Stephen was the real deal and the way he handled what was done to him sowed a powerful seed into Saul. Furthermore Philip is ministering powerfully with BOTH the proclamation of the Gospel and the demonstration of the Kingdom. So much happened in that place as the city ate the fruit hanging from his branches. Much is revealed about what the Spirit of God was doing and also how the Apostles dealt with Simon the sorcerer. Our city will eat the fruit of the Believers. We must give them Jesus!
Continuing in the Red Letters series we break into the most famous sermon ever preached - The Sermon on The Mount. It kicks off breaking into The Beatitudes. It’s crucial to know that before Jesus proclaims these Kingdom truths, Jesus demonstrates the Kingdom in power but healing all who were sick and tormented around Him. Once again, we need both! We must have a paradigm shift of what we consider “blessed” to mean and come into alignment with Gods metric for it.
