Today we commemorate and give thanks for the saints who have fallen asleep in Christ. Death is the consequence of sin, but as Christians, we believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Until that day, we mourn our loved ones knowing that when Christ returns in glory, “he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the old order of things has passed away” (Rev. 21:4). Gathered together in Christ, and with all those who have passed on before us, we celebrate the communion of saints and look forward to our reunion in heaven.
