Hello again YouTube family and a special welcome to all of you who are joining for the first time! In this 17th episode, we will dive into the full chapter of John 17. This is a special chapter as we are able to read Jesus' personal prayer to the Father. It first starts off with Jesus looking out towards heaven to pray, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you." The prayer follows through as Jesus expresses His longing to glorify the Father through His life and through His complete obedience, as well as His desire to have the Father glorify Him in His presence with the glory Jesus once had in heaven before the world began. Soon to follow, Jesus begins to pray for those the Father gave to him meaning; family, friends, and disciples. Here, Jesus lays claim to His obedience because He has followed every instruction to teach them to believe. Jesus' knows his time on earth is short, so He prays to the Father to protect them and keep them from the evil one. That they may be sanctified by His word and His truth. Towards the end of the chapter, Jesus intercedes on behalf of all believers that are to come in the future. He expresses His desire for everyone to be one with the Father, just as Jesus is one with the Father. Concluding the chapter, the last verse ends on this note, "I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
