Paul warns that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent, our minds can be corrupted and drawn away from the clear, saving truth of the gospel. Christianity is not about religious performance, human merit, or complicated systems of self-improvement; it is about Christ, the Son of God who came to save sinners through His death and resurrection. We turn away from false hopes and spiritual confusion. We turn to the simple, glorious truth: we are sinners in need of a Saviour, and Jesus Christ is able and willing to save all who come to Him in repentance and faith.

God's restoration of Israel reveals His faithfulness and prepares the way for the promised Messiah. Because God always keeps His promises, we must trust Him in the waiting and keep looking for the King.

Matthew 18:21–35 teaches that those forgiven by God must forgive others. Peter's attempt to limit forgiveness is shattered by Christ's command of boundless mercy. The king's cancellation of an unpayable debt pictures grace alone in Christ, while the servant's refusal to forgive reveals an unchanged heart.
