In Genesis 20 Abraham moves into Gerar and, fearing for his own safety, presents Sarah as his sister—again! Is it a repeat of the same story? Was there a writer’s strike in Old Testament times? Or do we see in Abraham an all-too-familiar picture of habitual sin and faltering faith that plagues God’s people even now? There is so much to say about this chapter in 1 Samuel! Saul's dynasty is rejected and that's a big blow not just to him personally but to the people who demanded a king in the first place. Why does it happen? What happens next?

Tonight we discussed 1 Samuel 11 and began discussing chapter 12. Is Saul finally the king the people desire? Or the king they deserve? He's certainly, as Samuel reminds them, the one they asked for!

The Lord visits Abraham and Sarah is told she will have a son in about a year's time. Meanwhile, Lot's city is under judgement and Abraham intercedes on its behalf. For the sake of a mere 10 righteous, the Lord will spare the city. And yet, ten cannot be found! Listen in as we begin to discuss what happens and why.
