Part 1 of 2: In this Faith Talk I use the image of a Venn Diagram to compare common teachings and practices within Christianity and
Buddhism. These two religions are each separate and unique entities with its own set of beliefs and practices, but they overlap just a bit to form a shared common space. It’s in that overlapping space that I see some important common teachings and practices, which I believe can be beneficial for us. In part one I share common teachings. In part two I will focus on common practices. Question: Might we Christians begin to feel confident
enough in our own faith to wander into this overlapping space? I for one say “yes.” I can appreciate and learn from Buddhist teachings and practices, while staying faithful to Christ and my Christian faith. As a matter of fact, these teachings and practices might even help me live a more Christ-like life. Please join me in this quest and share it with anyone who might benefit.
