It’s so much easier to blame our failures and short falls on others or on circumstances we deem out of our control. Yet the Lord asks for a heart of humility that we can stop playing the blame game and own our part in whatever has gone wrong. That makes us sure and certain recipients of the Lord’s blessings especially in the difficult places and relationships we find ourselves in. Today we are giving up blame!

One of the least helpful things anyone can do when they try to feel better about themselves is to compare! Today we seek to give up comparing ourselves to others and develop a keener sense of how God measures and how His vision of our life is all we need to be content with ourselves and with Him.

Remember the 1972 Classic Rock tune “Garden Party” by Ricky Nelson? The lyrics were catchy and profound: “ Ya can’t please everyone, so ya got to please yourself.” As we move through our Lenten Challenge we will be asked to let go of the need to please others, especially at the expense of pleasing God!

Patience is a virtue I can’t wait to get! A humorous way of saying just how difficult it can be to grow a patient heart. We are looking to foster the Spirit of Patience as we make our way toward Easter.

So often we can find ourselves wrestling with feelings of inadequacy and of being unworthy of God’s tremendous and unconditional love. This is what Day Three of our Lenten Challenge is all about! We will be reflecting on Philippians 4:13 that reads “I can do everything through Him who strengthens me” Listen, Learn and Practice God’s Love for you today!

This episode asks us to look square lay at our comfort zones and see if Jesus might be asking us to stretch ourselves. Perhaps this could mean taking a risk in a relationship or letting go of a behavior or an attitude that is self defeating - but it’s how you’ve always been.
