You my friend might feel in a place where you are stuck. Right here, right now, may feel like you are stalled in the in between. You know you are not where you would like to be in regards to your goals, hopes and dreams, but you realize that you have in fact moved ahead from where you once were. Looking back you may see that life seemed easier, more comfortable and less stressful at some point in the past. And the reality is that what is comfortable and easy, can often become a huge temptation for us right? I mean who likes struggle, who likes stumbling and who likes feeling stuck? Wouldn’t you rather have comfort and ease today? Sure we all would…which is exactly why I think God jams up our reverse button!

We know that we have mountain top moments from time to time, but doesn’t it often feel that we are wandering in the valley more often then we would like. It’s hard to see a way out when you are in the midst of a mess, but I’m so grateful that we have some amazing examples of people in scripture who went through struggle and unrest as well, as we can use their experiences as a learning tool for us on this day.

We are in a follow society, we seek direction and guidance and a model to base our lives on because truth be told it’s scary to go out on your own. It’s scary to think of being the lost sheep. When you decide wholeheartedly to all in follow Jesus, then he can offer the grace, and mercy and wisdom and guidance, and clarity and peace that can only come from the truth and hope that he provides. You won’t get that by following your dreams…but you are promised that by following him.

I want it all, and I want it now, and I don’t want to break a sweat in the process seems to be a motto for far too many people in our world today. Just between you and I though, isn’t that kind of true…don’t we sort of feel like we ARE entitled to a great quality of life, and we aren’t getting any younger, so now would be the perfect time to have all that we want! Every single one of us knows people who are being crushed by life. People who are so anxious they can’t physically leave their house, people who are so worried sick each evening they live in a state of chronic exhaustion and insomnia. Kids who are so anxious that they literally throw up at the thought of going to school, or being in certain situations. People who have so much guilt and shame hidden inside that physical ailments manifest because of the stress they are constantly feeling. Teens and adults who are so lost and misguided that they have no firm identity, and therefore grasp for whatever is available to them. This is tragic, an epidemic amongst our society, and certainly not what God has intended for us.

I will live today as your vessel ready to receive your word, respond to your promptings, and pour out your overflowing love to those all around me.
