Story of Gideon

The story of Gideon is covered in this teaching. Gideon seems an unlikely figure to become a future champion of Israel, yet the Lord of surprising, unearned grace seeks sinners and equips them to accomplish great things. Despite a clear revelation of the Lord's will, Gideon twice puts the Lord to a test, hoping to gain certainty for his faltering faith. When the Lord gives him a sign, Gideon are arrogant to reject it, yet the Lord is patient and merciful.

The Song of Deborah, sung with spontaneous emotion by Deborah and Barak in thanksgiving for Israel's deliverance from Sisera and his army, is talked through.
