Any murder is tragic. 

But when it involves children we all draw a sharp breath in shock. 

When we learn a family member killed their own family and likely themselves as well it takes our disbelief to an entirely new level. 

Such is the Powell Family Tragedy. 

Josh Powell, the father, was a psychopath. But like most psychotics, he was able to hide his behavior from all but the closest to him. Sadly, his wife Susan knew what he was capable of and literally made notes and videos to her loved ones stating that if anything ever happened to her it was Josh that had killed her. 

Then, on a cold December night in Utah, Josh Powell took his two young boys camping in the desert West of Salt Lake City - which no sane person would ever do. Not surprisingly, Susan disappeared about that same time. We all know what likely happened to her. Josh killed Susan in a rage, probably because he was losing control of Susan and his own circumstances, and then buried her somewhere in the desert. 

Within weeks of Susan disappearing Josh moved himself and his two young boys up to the Seattle area, where within a relatively short amount of time he murdered his two boys with a hatchet, then burned their house down with all three of them in it. 

Anne Bremner and Evan Bariault are attorneys who have been fighting to get justice for Susan, her two young boys and Susan's parents for over a decade. They join us to tell this tragic tale in a way that only those who are intimately involved with the case can.
