King Jeshu

Over the past two weeks we have seen the Sovereignty of God portrayed clearly in His dealings with the Syrians and Israelites. Today, we transition back into the chronicles of the kings of Israel and begin to move quickly to the end of the formal northern nation of Israel.

Currently, we are looking at the work of God in Israel via the prophet Elisha.

Currently, we are looking at the work of God in Israel via the prophet Elisha. Today, we see more signs and wonders performed by Elisha which will be replicated multiple times by Jesus establishing Himself as Messiah.

Today, we see the provision and power of God in events which also reveal His compassion for those who serve Him. As well, as we examine and apply these miracles performed via Elisha, we need to recall the Messianic nature of them - how Christ performed similar "signs and wonders" as a means of substantiating His ministry as a prophet ... and as the Messiah.

Last week we transitioned from the ministry of Elijah to that of Elisha. Their respective ministries mirrored those of the kings of Israel. Today, as we begin looking at the ministry of Elisha we see the importance of the reputation that you establish.

As Ahab's reign comes to a conclusion, so does the ministry of Elijah. Today, we see thhe "final acts" of Elijah's ministry - his prophecy to Ahaziah and his prophecy to Elisha.

God continually sought to make Himself known to Ahab. Yet Ahab, though recognizing the existence and sovereignty of God, still chose to reject Him and to serve other gods. Today, we see the end of Ahab's life. In the midst of this event, we once again see the sovereignty of God displayed!

Today, we will study one of the most infamous events recorded against Ahab and Jezebel - that regarding the "acquisition" of Naboth's vineyard.
