Today, we continue to see the attributes of YHWH displayed in His interactions with His creation - mankind. Though Israel had turned away from Him, God was still faithfully calling out to them and protecting them. We see this protection of YHWH in the battles against Syria.

I would like to challenge you to ask yourself - what practical impact has the resurrection of Christ made in your life? Christ HAS risen ... He HAS risen in indeed! But, other than getting up early on Resurrection Day and looking forward to being in His presence one

day ... what impact does it have in your daily life?

Elijah runs scared from Queen Jezebel, but meets God and receives his next direction.

Two weeks ago, we saw the Provision of YHWH for His prophet Elijah - via ravens and via the widow - during the drought that YHWH called against Israel because of their evil. Today, we see the Power of YHWH displayed - via Elijah - over the prophets of Baal and over nature.

The Power of Prayer

Last week, we transitioned into the period covering the house of Omri; and more specifically, King Ahab. Ahab's reign was marked predominantly by his evil and his interaction with the prophet Elijah. Today we will consider the beginning on those interactions.

Last week, we considered the how the sin of Jeroboam passed on to his son Nadab, and then how Baasha continued in it. Today we transition into the period of the house of Omri known most notably for his wicked son Ahab.

Last week, we considered the reign of Jeroboam and his fateful decision to set up a golden calf at Bethel and at Dan, leading the northern tribes of Israel down a path that would ultimately lead to their destruction. During this period we will continue to see, as we have, the balance between the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man. As we journey through the chronicles of the kings of Israel and Judah, we will also take the opportunity to consider additional doctrinal points which are addressed in the passage.

Last week, we saw that God declared that because of the sin of Solomon in worshipping other gods he would tear the kingdom from Solomon's son. Today, we consider that sad event in which we once again see the balance between the actions of men and the sovereignty of God.
