Self-improvement. Can it improve or implode your relationship?

For more than a decade self-development has been one of the fastest growing spaces on the face of the planet. Of course it can help you develop as an individual and assist you in overcoming areas that are holding you back in your mind, body soul and spirit. Like Ed Mylett taught us every decade you are physically a new person (even down to your bone structure!) so it only makes sense that mentally/emotionally you aren’t the same person. How you go about that as individuals will affect your relationship as a positive or a negative is up to you.

It is extremely important that you address how you are both changing or not changing in an effort to ensure you are communicating “where you are” and you don’t leave one another behind. You can develop yourself out of your relationship. In this episode we give you come keys to create this discussion in your relationship. This was a major eye opener for me, jaw dropping at times.

    Insecurity

Can insecurity sabotage your relationship? Can a dude be insecure? Is that even a thing?

Early on the idea that my supermodel of a wife could be insecure never crossed my mind. At the time I was 150lbs over weight, in my mind skinny gorgeous people had nothing but confidence. Not the case here.

It is incredibly important that we create a safe place in our relationship so we can share our insecurities and they will not be held against us, so we don’t suffer in silence. We can actually work together to overcome those places of insecurity. It can strengthen your relationship from a vulnerability standpoint. It begs the question, why didn’t I ever share these thoughts with my wife? She now is my biggest advocate thanks to the work we put in.

Insecurity can create a false narrative where you begin to second guess your spouse that in turn creates distance that turns into resentment. The message in insecurity is most often I am not enough or I can’t measure up.

    Rebuilding trust –

I have long said Trust is something that takes time to build easily broken and can seem impossible to rebuild. Make sure to reach out to us via email [email protected] we love your feedback! Thank you for all of it!

Life provides countless opportunities for our trust be broken via broken promises hurtful words and simply not showing up for those we love. Heck, we don’t even show up for ourselves and it causes us to lose trust in ourselves. In this episode Jeanne and I were fighting the same battles but we simply weren’t communicating to fight together.

I broke Jeanne’s trust in many ways because I was out chasing the next great idea in hopes of providing a better life for my family when really what my family needed was me there and involved. I only showed up in words but not in my actions.

Listen in as I give you some keys to rebuilding trust in my relationship, Jeanne shares her perspective on what I did to get back in the game. Allow my journey to become an example of how you can rebuild trust in your relationship.

About Family Famous

From the publisher's feed

In a world that measures success by visibility, wealth, and applause, Family Famous flips the script.Family Famous means becoming famous where it matters most — at home. Not on social media. Not in titles or trophies. But in the hearts, trust, and lives of the people who matter most: your wife and children.Hosted by Quincy Moran — a transformational communicator, devoted husband of more than 26 years to Jeanne, and father of eight (including triplets and twins) — this podcast reaches and teaches men how to lead their homes with intention, consistency, and credibility. Quincy’s first ministry is his family. His life mission is to be, and to teach men how to become, Family Famous™.This is not self-improvement for its own sake. It is transformation rooted in faith in Jesus Christ. Too many men succeed everywhere except at home. Family Famous exists to change that. You do have to be willing.Every episode closes with the same reminder:
