In this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, Hanako and Lorrie finally get to talk about the Vampire Diaries universe, as we discuss the Season 3 return of the CW show Legacies. The students at the Salvatore School deal with the aftermath of the events of last season while also working with Nimue, Lady of the Lake (recently escaped from the Malivore pit) to find one worthy enough to claim Excalibur - yes, that one - and prevent it from falling into the hands of the Green Knight (also from the pit).

We also recap a little about the show's backstory (and of course, its prequel shows The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are also mentioned), which leads to a side discussion about how the current Covid pandemic has affected such things as show filming, cancellations and extended hiatuses, fan conventions and other such events.

Hanako and Anthony discuss episode 6 of The Stand, and we continue to discuss issues we have with the presentation of the story. The Trashcan Man is finally introduced, in a problematic way. Conflicts arise in Boulder as the residents disagree on whether to search for Mother Abagail. Stu and Harold have a heart-to-heart. Mother Abagail and the Dark Man come face-to-face. Fran gets more than she bargained for when she goes snooping for answers. A series of events points Flagg to Mr. M-O-O-N, the elusive third spy who is no longer in New Vegas. Joe gives Larry a cryptic message. Nadine chooses Larry in an unusual way. Joe comes to the rescue of someone in need. Harold and Nadine make their stand.

We are now at the halfway point of the story, and we finally get a look at what Randall Flagg's followers are doing in New Vegas. Tom Cullen is successfully hiding in plain sight, while Dayna's ignorance of the definition of the phrase "low-key" raises a lot of questions. Harold takes in the "news" of Teddy's death with mixed reactions. Fran sets a plan into motion with unexpected results. Nadine tries to change her tune. Larry is forced to make some hard choices. Dayna comes face-to-face with the Dark Man.

It's back!!! The Season 2 premiere of A Discovery of Witches is FINALLY here after an almost 2 year hiatus (thanks, Covid!) and it does not disappoint. As Gerbert, Knox, and Satu close in, Matthew and Diana time walk to the year 1590. We meet Matthew's circle of friends: Kit (Christopher Marlowe), Henry Percy (the Earl of Northumberland), and Sir Walter Raleigh, which gives Diana a clue into Matthew's identity during that time. Kit and Diana get off to a rocky start. As the search begins to find Diana a teacher, she runs into a familiar face. Matthew begins to acclimate back into his old life, which is full of dangerous secrets. Diana's powers begin to manifest in uncomfortable ways.

We meet Nick (whose change in origin story does not make Hanako happy!), Tom Cullen, and Julie Lawry. The Dark Man tell Nadine his plans for Boulder, and her subsequent partnership with Harold proves deadly.
