It's back!!! The Season 2 premiere of A Discovery of Witches is FINALLY here after an almost 2 year hiatus (thanks, Covid!) and it does not disappoint. As Gerbert, Knox, and Satu close in, Matthew and Diana time walk to the year 1590. We meet Matthew's circle of friends: Kit (Christopher Marlowe), Henry Percy (the Earl of Northumberland), and Sir Walter Raleigh, which gives Diana a clue into Matthew's identity during that time. Kit and Diana get off to a rocky start. As the search begins to find Diana a teacher, she runs into a familiar face. Matthew begins to acclimate back into his old life, which is full of dangerous secrets. Diana's powers begin to manifest in uncomfortable ways.
In this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, Hanako, Anthony, and Lorrie discuss the 2-episode premiere of the Disney + series, WandaVision. We discuss what we loved about the series, the questions we have about how the characters got to this place in their story arc, and speculate on what Wanda's additional powers could mean for the show, and the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, Hanako and Anthony continue their discussion on the CBS Access limited series The Stand, based on the novel by Stephen King. Episodes 3 & 4 have a central theme about meetings. We learn a little more about Nadine's history with the Dark Man. A series of meetings and encounters lead Stu, Fran, Harold, Glen, and Dayna on a converging path towards Mother Abagail. We meet Nick (whose change in origin story does not make Hanako happy!), Tom Cullen, and Julie Lawry. The Dark Man tell Nadine his plans for Boulder, and her subsequent partnership with Harold proves deadly.
In this episode of the FHP, Hanako and Anthony discuss the first two episodes of the new CBS Access limited series The Stand, based off of the best-selling novel by Stephen King. We also discuss the novel and comparisons of both to the original mini-series from 1994.
Happy New Year!!! The Fandom Hybrid Podcast welcomes 2021 by having our discussion on the Christmas Day release of Wonder Woman 1984. Listen in to find out what we loved, what we hated, and what didn't make sense. We also talk a little about the DC films in general, and what makes them so problematic.
Vampires, and witches, and demons - oh my!!! The season 1 finale of A Discovery of Witches sees a "mini Congregation" of sorts coming together as the vampires (Matthew, Miriam, and Marcus) and demons (Hamish, Nathaniel, and Sophie) join the witches (Diana, Sarah, and Emily) in New York. Juliette confronts Diana and Matthew, with disastrous results Diana makes a bargain to save a life. Baldwin and Satu are both put on trial. Domenico picks a side. Diana and Matthew come up with a plan to hide from the Congregation and Knox. Matthew and Diana test her powers. Matthew gifts Marcus with a new responsibility. Matthew and Diana's attempts to leave may have been disrupted by Satu, Knox, and Gerbert. Episode ends with a huge cliffhanger.
This is the final episode for 2020; we will resume in 2021 with a review of Wonder Woman 1984, and Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches. To all of our listeners, thank you for joining us this year, and we look forward to the conversations next year. Have a safe and Happy New Year!!!
