Fandom on the Rocks

This week on Pack Dynamics we're talking S1E6, "Heart Monitor." Our favorite teen wolf Scott seeks frenemy Derek's guidance in gaining control over his transformation in order to protect Allison from accidentally getting hurt.  Derek continues to investigate who the mysterious and dangerous Alpha is rampaging around Beacon Hills, even asking his comatose Uncle Peter for help. Jackson Whittemore is generally Not Doing Well.

This week on Pack Dynamics we're talking S1E5, "The Tell."  Lydia and Jackson have a terrible evening, witnessing another attack by a creature at a video store.  Allison's aunt, Kate, gifts her with a family heirloom, encouraging her to learn more about their family's history, but to what end?  Scott and Allison skip school for her birthday, while Derek is attacked by a hunter.

Fanon or Canon? It's canon that Sheriff Stilinski prefers curly fries.

This week on Pack Dynamics we're talking S1E4, "Magic Bullet." There's a dangerous new hunter in town armed with - you guessed it - magic bullets designed to take down werewolves.  Derek has to reach out to his frenemies Scott and Stiles for help, before he rips any throats out with his teeth.  Scott gets invited to a very awkward dinner at the Argents.

Hosted by Fandom on the Rocks alum Emily and newcomer Alison, Pack Dynamics is a deep dive into the supernatural teen drama that was equal parts a delightful story of friendship and family and a vexing MTV show of wasted potential.

This is S1E3, "Pack Mentality." Our favorite teen wolf Scott is amped for his first date with Allison Argent, only for it to end up a weird group date with Allison's friend Lydia and Lydia's boyfriend Jackson. Stiles' father, the outstanding Sheriff Stilinski, is on high alert after a strange animal attack occurs in Beacon Hills. But we know what it really was, don't we?

Welcome to the first episode of Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast. Hosted by Fandom on the Rocks alum Emily and newcomer Alison, Pack Dynamics is a deep dive into the supernatural teen drama that was equal parts a delightful story of friendship and family and a vexing MTV show of wasted potential.

This episode we're of course discussing the pilot, "Wolf Moon." Ordinary high school Scott McCall must grapple with newfound abilities after getting bitten by a werewolf while also dealing with the complexities of teenage life. Not to mention all the supernatural forces that have now entered his life. Good thing he's got friends.

We're so thrilled to introduce the newest podcast to the Fandom on the Rocks network - Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast.  Hosted by FotR alum Emily and newcomer Alison, Pack Dynamics is a deep dive into the supernatural teen drama that was equal parts a delightful story of friendship and family and a vexing MTV show of wasted potential.

We suppose this podcast is a decade in the making, given how attached we've been to this series since we started watching it together in Los Angeles (you'll hear our origin story on the podcast). We sprinkle in character analysis alongside fanon lore and heartfelt critique of a show we've never quite let go of.  And we help you find the episode you're looking for so you can continue to create gorgeous and creative content.

The first 3 episodes will drop all at once on Wednesday on the Fandom on the Rocks feed and then we'll be releasing an episode a week.  And we're already a 1/3 of the way through recording Season 2. (How organized are we?!?)

A note from Alison: Thank you, dear listeners, for welcoming me into the Rocks fold. For listening while I chat with one of my best friends about a fandom that has consumed my whole soul for the better part of a decade. For letting this little Curiosity Pony prance out in the fields. Strap on your Shipping Goggles, we're going for a ride.

This is 4x19, "Sweet Dreams." The New Directions finally learn the theme of this year's Regional's - "Dreams," which is perfectly reasonable even though it's only days? weeks? before the performance and they probably should have been practicing for months now.  Naturally everyone has an opinion on what they should perform - including sweet Marley, who's gone ahead and written original songs for the Glee Club.  Meanwhile, over in NYC, it's time for Rachel "Barbra" Berry to audition Funny Girl, even though she's - let's say it again - a college freshman, but she does have a surprise support system on her side.

Fandom on the Rocks stands in solidarity with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and are acting accordingly.

Though we are not Union members, we support the on-going strike in search of fair contracts and will be following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA rules regarding the promotion of struck work. This includes podcasts.

We will continue to post new bonus episodes (like this one!) about non-struck work (music! books! food! ourselves!) until the strike ends and a fair contract is negotiated.

Here are a few key notes from the FAQs about podcasts:

What kind of podcast work is NOT allowed during the strike?

What about “rewatch” or “companion” podcasts relating to struck work? Are they considered promotional?

Please take a look a the organizations' websites to see how you might be able to support the writers and creators of the content you love.

Please enjoy this episode and know that we will be recording episodes of Glee on the Rocks during the strike to be able to post them when the strike ends.

In love and solidarity.

*Content Warning - this episode deals with school shootings. If you'd like to skip it, please do and we'll catch you on the next one. Take care of yourself.*

This is 4x18, "Shooting Star." The members of the New Directions continue to prepare for Regionals, but a terrifying event occurs in McKinley, putting everyone's secrets, issues, and concerns into stark perspective. Meanwhile, Ryder continues to try and figure out who his mystery texting buddy is, but finds out that he's being catfished.

And the end of the episode, Emily and Bee decompress from this heavy mess of an episode by talking about Taylor Swift and other lighter topics. If you make it through, take a breath, turn on some tunes, look at some trees.

Our wonderful sound engineer is Adriana.
