"I'd love to have a beer with Koenig, cause Koenig's me, mate!"
Title: #328 - Space: 1999 (1975) - I'd Have A Beer With Koenig
Tagline: Commander John Koenig is stern, short-tempered, and the only bloke you'd trust to get Moonbase Alpha home. He's also me, apparently.
Episode Summary:
This week on the Mullet, we go back to Gerry Anderson's most ambitious live-action epic. We talk Eagles, Explosive Decompression, Barry Gray's epic score, Martin Landau vs. the universe, and why this show still goes harder than most modern sci-fi.
It was created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson as a UK space series running 48 episodes from 1975-78, starring husband-and-wife duo Martin Landau and Barbara Bain as base Commander John Koenig and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Helena Russell.

LETHAL MULLET PODCAST #327 - ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976)
No demands. No negotiation. Just siege.
At 3:03am, the phones go dead, the lights go out, and a decommissioned police station becomes the Alamo. This week we’re breaking down John Carpenter’s lean, mean, $100k masterpiece that proved you don’t need money, you need nerve.
It’s Rio Bravo meets Night of the Living Dead, with a synth score that invented dread.
The Film: Assault on Precinct 13 - 1976 - Written, Directed, Scored and Edited by John Carpenter. 91 minutes. Made for $100k in 20 days. Starring Austin Stoker as Lt. Ethan Bishop, Darwin Joston as Napoleon Wilson, Laurie Zimmer as Leigh, and Henry Brandon.
What We Cover:
Why Carpenter originally called it THE ANDERSON ALAMO and wrote it in 8 days as "John T. Chance" - John Wayne's character in Rio Bravo
The ice cream truck scene - how killing little Kathy changed the MPAA forever and almost got the film an X rating
How to make $100k look like a million: Panavision anamorphic 2.39:1 projected on a bedsheet, real Venice cop shop locations, and a cast of USC mates and neighbours
The siege mechanics - silenced rifles, no demands, faceless gang, and the most isolated precinct in LA
"Got a smoke?" - Wilson, Leigh, and why Napoleon Wilson steals the whole movie
The score - written in 3 days, drums + synth + electric piano. The blueprint for Halloween
Why it bombed in the US in November '76 and then exploded at the 1977 London Film Festival
Original vs 2005 Remake - why explaining the gang ruins the whole point
Where to Watch: Prime & Blu-ray from Shout! Factory.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS (1993) - Couch Potato Theater: Fandom Podcast Network Classics
LETHAL MULLET PODCAST - Episode #326: ARENA (1989) - Man vs Lizard
Tagline: In 4038, the first human in 50 years steps into the intergalactic boxing ring. We watched it so you don't have to... but you totally should.
EPISODE DESCRIPTION:
The Lethal Mullet is strapping on the tactical armor and stepping into THE ARENA - the 1989 Empire Pictures sci-fi cheese classic that asked "what if Rocky was a short-order cook in space?"
We break down Steve Armstrong's underdog run, Quinn's fight stable, crime boss Rogor and his weasely enforcer Weezil (hello future Quark & Gul Dukat), and the final boss Horn the cyborg. Plus practical effects, handicap computers that explode heads, and why this movie is secretly a Deep Space Nine prequel.
If you love VHS-era sci-fi, alien boxing, and mullets that survive re-entry, this one's for you.
