  • Episode 62: My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To

This week, Bri and Leah chat about a recent indie gem: My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To (dir. Jonathan Cuartas, 2021). We dug this grim, disturbing, low-key spin on the vampire film. As usual, this episode is marked explicit for a handful of f-bombs.

    Show Notes:

If you're curious (or if you think you recognized any spots and wanted to confirm, like Leah did), The Salt Lake Tribune ran an interview last year with writer/director Jonathan Cuartas where he talked about all of the locations in Salt Lake City that he used for the film: https://www.sltrib.com/artsliving/2022/01/31/when-vampire-movie-needed/

  • Episode 61: Dark Shadows (2012)

This week, Bri and Leah discuss Tim Burton's 2012 remake/reboot of the classic supernatural soap Dark Shadows. This movie is a mess, but Eva Green remains our queen.

  • Episode 60: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, Season 1

This week, Bri and Leah observe a holiday episode tradition by discussing Interview with the Vampire. This year, instead of the 1994 movie, we're talking about season one of the 2022 TV adaptation. We LOVE this show, and we hope you enjoy our super-sized discussion of the perfect first season.

As promised, here's the link to the first of Leah's recaps of the show for Screen Speck:

  • Episode 58: Blood Relatives

This week, Bri and Leah discuss a new Shudder original: Blood Relatives (dir. Noah Segan, 2022). We enjoyed this low-key vampire road movie.

This week, Bri and Leah unofficially cap off Twilight November with a discussion of the 2010 parody film Vampires Suck (dir. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer). Also, Leah reveals the embarrassing number of times she's watched Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. As usual, this episode is marked explicit for a handful of f-bombs.

  • Episode 56: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2

    Twilight November #3

This November, Bri and Leah are finally tackling THE vampire films of the 21st century. That's right, we're covering the Twilight Saga in honor of the tenth anniversary of the release of Breaking Dawn: Part II. Our Twilight Saga series will be three episodes.

This week, we're talking about the epic conclusion to the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 (2011) and 2 (2012), both directed by Bill Condon. If you couldn't tell already, talking about Twilight makes us loopy, and we go OFF this week. Like, off the rails tangents about Edward's vampire venom sperm. So, this episode is marked explicit for a handful of f-bombs and some spicy speculations about vampire reproductive biology. We also get a little reflective at the end of this episode and try to figure out what, exactly, the cultural impact of Twilight has been.

  • Episode 55: New Moon & Eclipse

    Twilight November #2

This November, Bri and Leah are finally tackling THE vampire films of the 21st century. That's right, we're covering the Twilight Saga in honor of the tenth anniversary of the release of Breaking Dawn: Part II. Our Twilight Saga series will be three episodes.

This week, we're talking about the filling in the Twilight sandwich: the middle films, New Moon (2009, dir. Chris Weitz) and Eclipse (2010, dir. David Slade). We talk about the non-existent "love triangle" and why thinking about Taylor Lautner makes Leah sad. This episode is marked explicit for some f-bombs, as usual.

  • Episode 54: Twilight

    Twilight November #1

This November, Bri and Leah are finally tackling THE vampire films of the 21st century. That's right, we're covering the Twilight Saga in honor of the tenth anniversary of the release of Breaking Dawn: Part II. Our Twilight Saga series will be three episodes.

This week, we're talking about the original film, Twilight (2008, dir. Catherine Hardwicke). Bri tries to explain why she loves Edward, and Leah is a (reluctant) hater.

For this October's theme, Leah and Bri are covering some 1980's vampire classics! This week, we're talking about Tony Scott's debut film The Hunger (1983). This episode is marked explicit for a few f-bombs, as usual.
