Fangs Up

Coming into the season many of us who believed in the potential of FAMU Football are a bit more than concerned with what we have seen thus far this season.

But I believe the fanbase, at least the rational members of the base, are willing to let our coach and this program grow into what we hope it to become.

So while many of us are frustrated with the outcome of the week in Miami we can still prepare for the upcoming week and look back at this past week to see a glimpse of hope for the future.

The Quin Gray Era has begun and the FAMU Faithful are happy with a win but are concerned about how the win was accomplished.

Let’s take a brief moment to recap some of what we saw at the Albany State vs FAMU game.

Beyond the football game we were able to see FAMU volleyball get its first win of the season.

And let's hold ourselves accountable by seeing how we did in the game day picks from the past week.

FAMU football is gearing up for a great season, starting right at home where the Rattler spirit runs deep. We hit the ground running with that high-stakes Home Opener against Albany State.

But let us finish our preseason predictions first up, we take on Southern University in a battle that always brings pure fireworks and electric energy to the field. Then the Rattlers pack up and head out on the road to clash with Alcorn State University in a grueling matchup that will test this team's true grit and road resilience.

Returning back home, FAMU looks to dominate and defend the turf against a hungry Mississippi Valley State squad. And finally, it all comes down to the ultimate rivalry—the grand finale against Bethune-Cookman University, where bragging rights, honor, and everything in between are laid straight on the line.

From the very first whistle against Albany State to the final whistle against BCU, this season promises pure chaos, relentless hit-stick football, and unforgettable moments. Lock in, get ready, and let's bring the noise all year long.

UAPB has been at the bottom of the conference for the majority of the teams time within the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

And this year is likely to be more of the same and the Rattlers are playing host to the Tigers.

And on the other end of the rebuilding line we have Southern University who has struggled mightily to get wins against FAMU in the sport of Football.

Let's look at two games at one time.

In addition FAMU basketball has seen some impressive signings that are exciting the base and the Volleyball team is likely to make another huge run to defend the SWAC Title!

Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium has been a house of horrors for the FAMU fan, and in all honesty Jackson State has been a boogy man for the FAMU Fan.

The 2025 contest was an indictment on the football program that reigns fresh in the minds of all who were in Bragg Stadium and the failures of the 2024 contest in Thee Vet also reminds many FAMU faithful of how close this game was.

The hope this year is that FAMU will not only challenge Jackson State but will find a way to turn this House of Horrors upside down.

Last year saw Alabama State finally get over the FAMU sized hump in the schedule in a very lopsided victory over the home Rattlers.

This year's battle has Alabama State sitting again near the top of the SWAC’s preseason polls and expecting to again make a run for the SWAC title.

But here come the Rattlers who seemingly have nothing to play for but everything to gain. The Rattlers get the opportunity to ruin homecoming and preserve the winning streak that has been established in the GUMP.

This is going to be a movie!

Alabama A&M and Florida A&M University is not a rivalry of any sort, especially on the football field. This is largely because the Bulldogs have yet to defeat the Rattlers since the two have been in the SWAC.

Well this year the teams meet again with the hopes that we will see more of the same.

But Alabama A&M has a veteran QB that is returning and a 2nd year head coach all while FAMU looks very brand new.

But by this point in the Season FAMU will know what they have and who they are.

Also we are welcoming another personality to the show to see about enhancing the product.

Good Times for some Good Conversation.

Tennessee State is known as the land of Golden Sunshine but on the day that these two teams play FAMU, we are looking for Dark Clouds to be on the horizon.

This game is built upon the years of rivalry and angst which extends from the playing field to the marching bands.

This could be a very important game for FAMU Football after spending a week in South Florida.
