When a pandemic prevents us from receiving the Church's Sacraments, we can find grace and encouragement in the use of sacramentals! Learn in this episode how sacramentals (with a lower case "s") can lead us to holiness when we can't access the Sacraments (with a capital "s").

Have you ever meditated on the significance of the type of trees that may have grown in the Garden of Eden? In this episode, Lisa suggests that they might give us further insight into the loving heart of Our Heavenly Father. Discussing the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Lisa makes the point that God wanted Adam and Eve to grow in virtue, to emulate his attributes, and to use their free will to love freely. But what happens when we use our free will to oppose God? Lisa discusses the fall of some of the angels, the cunning serpent that tempted Adam and Eve to doubt the goodness of God, the consequences of their sins, and how Our Heavenly Father had a plan for our redemption from the beginning. With a thorough discussion of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, Lisa makes the point that we have all we need to grow in virtue and concludes with a discussion of how the Eucharist is meant to strengthen us on this journey. The information about angels of which she speaks was gathered and taught by Dr. Mark Miravalle through a Lighthouse Catholic Media CD called "Angels Explained: What You Should Know About the Nine Choirs." Today Lisa and Rachel react to a recent article in The Federalist entitled, "Why Women Love the Home But Not Being a Homemaker" written by Dr. Carrie Gress and Noelle Mering, co-authors of "Theology of Home: Finding the Eternal in the Every Day" (TAN Books, September 2019) and the editors of the online women's magazine, TheologyOfHome.com.

Today Lisa and Rachel finally finish their discussion of indulgences! Among other questions, they answer, "What if I don't feel the benefits of an indulgence? How can we know that the temporal effects of our sins have been mitigated?" They discuss Father Richard Heilman's book on building up a Holy Alliance in Heaven as we rescue the souls in Purgatory through indulgences. In addition, Lisa shares why she thinks plenary indulgences could be the solution to solving the problem of promiscuity in our culture, and she shares a letter she wrote to Pope Francis, asking him to consider granting a plenary indulgence to all women who have gone through childbirth. The episode begins with The Fashion Confession, where Rachel and Lisa empathize about mammograms, online scams, and boycotting brands that don't align with their values!
