Fatherly Advice

Growing up at in Virginia Beach there is no place that brings me more comfort instantly than the beach. In the gospel this weekend Jesus goes to live by the sea and I imagine him enjoying the beach too. I throw in some philosophy too. 

It's the homily from Christmas... its about Christmas. 

Last weekend in Advent. Time to get serious about preparing for Christmas. 

What does being a paramedic, John the Baptist, and the 3rd Sunday of Advent have in common? We all need to be rescued from something at some point in our lives. The Israelites, john the Baptist, and us all need help sometimes, and when we need that help, it cannot come quick enough. 

Happy New (liturgical) Year! As we start Advent it's important to look toward the future and prepare for the coming of Christ. Otherwise Advent, Christmas, and the whole season will be wasted. 

You get what you pay for, and right now we need to pay for a youth minister. This week I shake down the parish on behalf of the finance office to try and fundraise an entire years salary for a new position in a weekend. 

THE END IS COMING! or maybe not, but either way, we should be prepared for it.
