I've been married 34 years this past week. Judie posed the question to me in our podcast "Into The Grey". What would you tell your 18/20-year-old self about relationships, careers, and spirituality? This got me thinking about what I would tell myself as a young man about being a dad and good husband
Remember they are kids
Let them make mistakes
Let them explore / explore with them
Let them play
Make them do a season
Let them see you make big moves
Let them see you love their mom
Counsel with your wife
Be a unified front - don’t let kids play you against each other
What if you didn’t have a good dad
You know what you didn’t like, you know what you don’t want to be opposite
Angry - patient
Stubborn- open and understanding
Yeller- soft spoken
Workaholic - set aside time
Overbearing - gentle
Alcoholic - Clean and sober
Forgive yourself when you mess up
Apologize. - own who you are and what you doWhat would you tell yourself?
