FKOF Premiere!

The dons of the wicked event, and now also officially a music imprint @dngnbeats, bring a sweet debut compilation to our tidy little culture. It features music from the big players from the likes of Sepia, Leon Switch, Taiko, 207, and many more.

Our favourited 'Overthrown' by the mighty, FKOF familia, @jkenzo is the opening track and packs a serious punch. The tight drums, the full-on bass warfare in the bottom region remain part of J:Kenzo's deadly formula. Instabag business!

'DNG001' is set for release on 31/03/2021 thru cassette, therefore a must have for all collectors and bassweight lovers. Hit the buy-link attached to order this big release, grab the cassette and digitals (by purchasing the release)...

Reaching out to Australian label @uncomfortablebeats for our next full-length debut. This one's off @obanibeats' first self-titled solo release and it's an absolute tune!

You can bag 'Ya Man' and the rest of the 'Obani' EP from the label's bandcamp (via the buy link) from this Friday, 12/03/21. Don't sleep!

"Obani’s self titled debut EP is a journey of deep 140bpm bass that pays homage to the early pioneers of dubstep and its original UK sound. Making a strong mark with his first original take on these mannerisms, Obani provides a breath of fresh air within a landscape of music that has otherwise drifted far from its previous resonations."

@jahyu, founder of the thorougly-established @tripedalcrow imprint, brings Hamburg's @penguin_sound to his imprint. The 'Through The Desert' EP is a beautiful collection of Dub-oriented tracks with the true Dubstep sound as its second skin. We premiere the mezmerizing 'Mirage Dub' containing the flavours that seriously set the mood...

'TCRD006' will see the light of day through digital format on 12/03/2021, therefore head over to the buy-link attached to support the label in any way possible - and of course pick up this marvellous release.

"Conscious sound system music for the healing of the nation! JahYu's very own Tripedal Crow Records unveils the newest addition to the artist family - meditative music for troubling times. Based in Hamburg, Penguin Sound surfaces with a grand debut EP and emerges as an artist to watch out for. Smoothly defying genre conventions and with a keen sense of space, the up and coming artist and producer merges Dub and Dubstep characteristics in a fluid yet precise manner, fused with a meticulous and multi-faceted melodic approach. Primed for future dance floor opportunities as much as home-listening situations, the meditative journey 'Through The Desert' shall stand the test of time as an integral part of the greater Dub and Dubstep canon."

"Vast dunes of harmonic overtones, the title track kicks off with ethereal chords and oriental lead melodies in a constant state of ebb and flow. 'Through The Desert' nests its meditative contents on a heavyweight foundation, overdriven sub-bass bustling amid the auditory sandstorm. On a more technoid venture, 'Mirage Dub' evokes a profound sense of ominous anticipation. As the veil is lifted, swaths of low-frequency excursions mingle amid the authentic percussion and glitched-out ambience. 'Rain' materializes introspective notions and spheres of melancholy. Hovering among the experimental soundscape, it reaches into the depths of consciousness as evanescent strings guide the way. In staccato style, 'Beyond The Temple' sports fidgeting hi-hats and sizzling pressure valves, guided by a creative micro-arrangement and distorted bassline foundation - hazy and expressive with plenty of grooves to round off the trip. Descending into the eerie atmosphere, 'Elderstab' takes a stride through synth Valhalla on top of old-school wobbles, merging in a beautiful and dynamic progression. Returning to the title track, the VIP turns up the heat in a full-on stepper version business fashion, energetic sound system fuel, providing a perfect contrast to the original - proper! Distinguished artist and label boss JahYu takes on 'Rain' and imprints his signature style in a hypnotic version in minimal sound attire as fleeting melodies guide the way through. A superb culmination of the release and conclusion for the debut release of Penguin Sound - off to a great start!…"

FKOF Promo!

We’ve been working on FKOFv005 for what feels like years. It started as a solo outing for one of our longest-serving FKOF fam members, it then morphed into a b2b remix release, it then went back to somewhere in-between...

Our next record release features FKOF fam (from way back on FKOFd002) @subreachers and @congi-music (for the first time ever on FKOF Records).

The release is available for pre-order this Friday, 5th March 2021, to celebrate our 11th birthday. It drops a little earlier than expected (due to a few production/ logistics issues) for pre-order – we won’t be able to start shipping until May – but you’ll also be able to pre-order from our friends at Unearthed Sounds from Friday 19th March.

A1. Subreachers - Ceres (Original Mix)

A2. Subreachers - Zaytoven (Original Mix)

B1. Subreachers - Captain Future (Original Mix)

B2. Subreachers - Zaytoven (Congi Remix)

Bonus track: Subreachers - Concentric (FKOFv005 Free Download): https://soundcloud.com/fatkidonfire/subreachers-concentric-fkofv005-free-download

“Our latest physical release paints an epic picture, one defined by broad strokes that demonstrate the diverse range of sounds that Matt at Subreachers is capable of creating. We start with ‘Ceres’. It’s an articulated vibe, one that jitters across a low-key but supportive sub. It’s a groove you need to experience to fully understand. Next up, ‘Zaytoven’ steps up on the A2 with a slightly steppier take on the Subreachers sound. This one’s all dub sirens and punchy percussion, a meditative roller that’s built for the big sound and dark rooms.

“We take an even deeper dive into things with the B-side. ‘Captain Future’ is a sumptuous tune, there’s not much else to say. It evokes a pleasant memory, of time well spent with good people doing nice things. Atmospheres for days. And last – but definitely not least – we close with a remix from one of the artists we’ve been trying to work with for as long as we’ve known about them. Nottingham-based duo Congi flip ‘Zaytoven’ in the only way they know how; all relaxed keys, smoky basements and 3am dancefloor respite. It’s a superb close to a record we’re really proud of, a labour of love from everyone involved.”
