When we start following Jesus, we are so excited for a relationship with Him. Over time, this relationship can feel more and more like a list of rules to follow. Yes, there are ‘rules’ in Christianity…but have you ever considered that these rules aren’t to keep you from fun, but rather to protect you from harm?

50% of high school students are exposed to a sexual experience before they turn 18 years old. Society has often defined the meaning of sex to our students. Growing up we were often told by the church and our parents to "Not have sex before marriage!" without an explanation. Students are always asking "Why?". We are going to dive into scripture on why God has fitted us the ability to procreate, but also dive into scripture WHY it's best to wait until after marriage.

Without Jesus being the foundation of our dating relationships, those relationships are doomed to be unhealthy. There are three elements to a dating relationship: Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical. The way we date now can ultimately impact and affect our future.

Some of the greatest joys in life are the relationships that we have. At the same time, some of the most difficult situations in life are because of these same relationships. Though we were made for relationship, our relationships are broken…often leaving us with hurts and scars that last a long time. This week, join us as we take a Biblical look at how to find hope and healing from even our most broken relationships.

We all want our lives to mean something & to matter to others. We want to live a life of greatness! While this isn't a bad desire, in this weeks' text we'll see that Jesus has very specific instructions for those who want to be great. Greatness doesn't come from going viral, having a good reputation, or being seen. Greatness comes from doing the things that no one sees, that will never go viral...and knowing that even when it feels like no one values what you do..Jesus does.

With growing fame comes growing opposition. As Jesus teaches to the crowds, the religious leaders begin to make efforts to undermine His ministry. Seeing that trouble is brewing, Jesus’ family makes an effort to bring Him back home to protect Him. This text reveals that following Jesus and being a part of what He is doing in the world will always bring people who oppose us, as well as people who want to call us back to safety. Jesus makes it clear that following Him was never meant to be comfortable or safe, but it will always be worth it!

As Jesus' ministry grows, people are coming from hundreds of miles away to hear Him teach, see His miracles, and be healed - the crowd grows daily! After ministering to the crowd, Jesus calls a small circle of followers to go up a mountain with Him, and there reveals that He will allow them to teach, heal, and be a part of what He's doing in the world. The crowd just wanted to selfishly watch the miracles and hear the teaching...while the called get invited to actually be a part of it. This weeks' message forces us each to check our hearts and ask: "Do I want to be a part of the Crowd? Or the Called?"
