What would it mean if God answered our prayer, "your kingdom come, your will be done" in my life and in the world? We should consider that before praying it, because God's kingdom is predicated on humility, love, and sacrifice and looks very different than the kingdom of this world. And it leads to joy, fullness, and salvation! Who is your Lord, which kingdom are you living for?

Why do you pray? Do you think that prayer makes a difference or is it a fruitless activity? God invites us to communicate with Him not in a distant, formal way, but instead as a child approaches their Father. What an amazing invitation! In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches his followers to pray, may it drive us to grow as people of prayer.

There is a temptation in our culture to just "do" church instead of "being" the church and entering into God's mission. This sermon challenges our concept of church and mission and ultimately confronts us with one question: What are we living for?

Sociologists describe our society as a lonely one built on individualism. What effects does that have upon the church? How do we combat that and instead create a culture in which people can be known and know others deeply? The answer lies in our common foundation and our common mission, which opens the door to great depth of community. With intentionality, the opportunity for deep community is there!

In the difficult economic times we live in, to talk about generosity seems backwards. But in Scripture, Jesus' followers are called to generosity. How do we do this? The secret lies in a growing understanding of the gospel, the greatest story of generosity every told.

As we continue our monthly series looking at Superheroes of the Bible, this week we talk about one of the greatest, most impressive men of the Old Testament, Elijah. Called to stand up to King Ahab and the prophets of Baal, Elijah shows the power of the only true God. So what can we learn from Elijah? We get a clue by how Elijah is described in James 5:16-17, a person just like us. The lesson we take from Elijah's life is to be people of persistent, bold prayer, expecting God to work powerfully in and through his people.

There is a clear Biblical call to get rid of sin and run towards holiness. Yet often we settle with having a little bit of sin and a little bit of holiness. Will we settle or will we actively by God’s grace rid ourselves of sinful habits?

Like Timothy, we are called to do the work of an evangelist and promised the power to be Jesus’ witnesses. Statistics indicate that most Christians do not share their faith, that they settle for something less. Will we settle normal or do the work of an evangelist?

In his interaction with the Rich Young Ruler, Jesus points out the difficulty of wealth and following him. This is a theme that runs throughout Jesus’ ministry. The American Dream is one of comfort and wealth, the call of Jesus is to discomfort and service, which will we run after?
