In this episode, we sit down with Brian Williams and Quinton Hicks, former standout defensive linemen for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and members of last year’s national championship-winning team. Now working full-time at Northwestern Mutual in Sioux Falls, where they both run their own practices after interning during college, Brian and Quinton share insights on their journey from the football field to the financial world.

We also dive into their involvement with the Northwestern Mutual, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and FCS Nation’s FCS Athlete Challenge. Last year, 13 FCS football all-stars from 11 universities came together to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research, raising nearly $45K in their first year. Brian and Quinton talk about their roles in this impactful campaign, their continued support of childhood cancer research, and how they’re cheering on their former teammate Mark Gronowski as he competes for the Lemon Trophy in 2024.

We’ll also highlight the incredible efforts being made this year, with 12 FCS universities aiming to raise over $250,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a leading organization in childhood cancer research and family support. In this week’s Stone Cold Quarterback Segment, I sit down with Weber State's sophomore QB, Richie Munoz, after his monster performance in the Wildcats' 55-48 OT win at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula. Richie threw for 364 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions, the most passing TDs by a Wildcat since 1993!

We take a deep dive into the thrilling victory, breaking down Richie’s thought process on some of the game’s biggest plays. He peels back the curtain on critical conversations with his quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach in those tense moments down the stretch. Plus, we discuss the challenges of playing quarterback in such a high-stakes environment and how Richie kept his composure to deliver a statement win.

In this episode, we dive into the inspiring efforts of Southern Illinois University linebacker Chris Presto, who was named this week's Alex's Lemonade Stand Honorary Captain. Chris has raised over $1,000 in just a week, showing his deep commitment to making a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Alongside him is Steve Gross, Managing Partner at Northwestern Mutual St. Louis, whose company has partnered with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to fund more than 700,000 hours of research and donate over $60 million since 2012.

This year’s challenge brings together 12 universities within the FCS Nation with a shared goal to raise over $250,000 for childhood cancer research and support. These players, like Chris, are influencing the next generation of philanthropic leaders, inspiring communities, businesses, and universities to rally behind their efforts. Through this partnership, families are not only receiving hope for new treatments but also vital support for travel and accommodations as their children undergo life-saving care.

Chris and Steve’s passion shines through in this conversation, demonstrating how powerful the intersection of sports and philanthropy can be. Their collective efforts serve as a reminder that every action counts in the fight against childhood cancer, a disease that affects over 1,000 children daily and is the leading cause of death by disease in children ages 1 to 19 in the U.S., yet receives only 4% of federal funding.
