Dear Leader: If you've ever left a leadership event wondering where the depth was, this podcast episode is for you.
Over the last week, I've had conversations with female leaders in a variety of industries including: financial, direct sales, and engineering. While listening to their stories it became clear that female leaders are hungry for leadership training that has depth.
Just last week I sat in a lunch meeting with twenty women in our community. We were there to hear from a panel of three women leaders that lead in male dominated industries. I went there with the expectation that I would learn from their experience, so when the panel started, I grabbed my planner and took copious notes. Now, I wouldn't qualify this talk as a "deep" leadership talk. However, there were nuggets of depth there that really inspired me in many ways. I was able to grasp those tiny nuggets of depth because I set my expectations beforehand.
A few days after this event, I shared a story on Instagram about this topic and asked if people wanted a podcast episode on it. The response was an overwhelming YES! So here it is - a solo episode to help you consider what typically leads to a lack of depth in leadership events and how to begin changing it.
I've included a few of my notes below so you can refer back to them after hearing this episode...
These are the things to consider as to why your leadership conference lacks depth.
If you are planning a leadership training: Keep in mind that depth matters to your attendees. Consider how you can tweak your schedule to allow more time with less presenters. Give presenters permission to pivot on the fly if the need arises.
If you are speaking at a leadership training: Prepare ahead of time and allow spots for content to be skipped over if the opportunity arises to dive deeper into one piece of the content. Let your meeting planners know that you are willing to do that. And if the meeting planners don't want this service, let your attendees know how to reach you so they can go deeper with you one on one.
And if you are attending a leadership training: Check your expectations. You get what you focus on. Bring a notebook and be ready to catch tiny nuggets of depth. Then, reach out and work with a coach one-on-one or in a group coaching program to really activate the depth you are desiring.

A few months ago, at our Fearless Feminine Leadership Event, a client asked us this question:
How can I be a Fearless Feminine Leader when my business has sort of taken the back seat due to lost momentum, no clients, etc?
Its a great question that every Fearless Feminine Leader needs to be ready to answer when the time comes! In this episode, we vulnerably share what we do when we find ourselves in the same situation. Tune in to find out:

In an article from Forbes Magazine dated April 28, 2014, the writer quoted that "Men are confident about their ability at 60%, but women don’t feel confident until they’ve checked off each item on the list."
Dear Female Leader - have you done this? You're not alone if you have! Most women do!
Women internalize their abilities on the job way more than men do and it's time we overcome this confidence issue. In today's episode, we want to highlight a few reasons WHY waiting until you are qualified is a problem, and what to do about it.

Female Leaders have a lot of pressure put on them to not only prove their leadership abilities, but to also make sure they are giving a ton of time and money to every volunteer opportunity and advocacy group that comes their way.
There’s nothing wrong with volunteering or advocating for causes that you care about; however, it’s time we normalize the fact that not every Female Leader is in a season to give back in those ways.
And that’s okay.
Your work as a Female Leader and an entrepreneur is enough.
What you are already giving through your products and services and leadership is enough!
You’ve only got so much time and energy to give and it’s time to stop sacrificing your main priorities on the altar of “giving back.”
If this is resonating with you, and you've been questioning how to step away from volunteering for everything, let this be your permission slip. Listen in to discover 3 signs that it’s time to step away from volunteer and advocacy work...

Confidence AND competence are what confident rockstar women need to lead! What you don’t need is more rah-rah sisterhood toxic positivity BS.
Rockstar confidence means a lot of things - and that's the beauty of it: you get to define for yourself what rockstar confidence means and how to live it out. Yes, there are leadership principles that weave everything together, but you get to put your own unique spin on it.
We are going to define what rockstar confidence means to each of us - as we do, jot down the answers that resonate with you and take a moment to define it for yourself!

Compulsive apologizing is a sign of insecurity and a lack of confidence. It's ruining your leadership and we've got to talk about it!
How to give an authentic apology is something that we teach in our Course, The Honor Code of Conflict Resolution. Genuine apologies are important! However, many women - and especially women leaders - struggle with compulsive apologizing. They over apologize for everything and it's ruining your leadership and influence.
