One of Luke Skywalker’s earliest and most promising Jedi students, Gantoris, was ultimately among the first to fall to the dark side on Yavin 4. Haunted by visions of doom and driven by an insatiable desire for power, Gantoris secretly sought out forbidden knowledge within the ancient temples of the Massassi.

It was there that he encountered the lingering spirit of Exar Kun—one of the most dangerous Sith Lords to ever exist. Kun promised Gantoris the secrets of unimaginable strength, fueling his pride and distrust in Luke’s teachings. In secret, Gantoris began training under Kun’s malevolent influence, delving into techniques no Jedi should ever learn.

Gantoris constructed a unique and unstable lightsaber, sometimes described as having a strange “duel phase” blade—capable of shifting length and intensity in the midst of combat. This weapon reflected his growing instability and the corrupting touch of the Sith.

Tragically, despite Luke’s attempts to guide him back to the light, Gantoris’s hunger for greater power ultimately consumed him. His brief but fateful alliance with Exar Kun proved deadly, marking the first of many dark trials Luke’s fledgling Jedi Order would face on Yavin 4.
